Help-a-Pet Day!

Site Update

Today has been declared Help-a-Pet Day!
Brought to you by Chianya (#12264) and the power of a Slashbot.

This time of year can be especially rough for animals, particularly in areas experiencing harsh winter climates.
Many animals find themselves as unwanted pets from the holidays, are strays seeking warmth and food, or are in a shelter overrun with other pets looking for a forever home. Therefore, Chianya is bringing a week-long event to Aywas in order to help spotlight the cause and support animals in need!

Donation Drive
Aywas is sponsoring a donation drive to help the efforts of organizations that rescue and care for any and all animals. As a thank you for your generosity to an animal-focused shelter/charity of your choice, we have set up the following tiers according to Chianya's specifications:

The Pawprint Dog Bed is a custom creator that will enable you to upload your very own Shelter Dog silver pet with up to 30% edits. Click the image to download the PSD.
As this pet is a donation reward, these lines cannot be created with SCCs, Silver Potions, etc.

* Donation tiers are listed in USD amounts, but you may donate in another currency as long as it is at least the USD equivalent amount.

How to Donate
1. Choose a shelter or animal charity of your choice. Any organization that helps, cares for, or rescues animals from cats and dogs to exotic pets and even wildlife is acceptable. We are very flexible on this!

2. Check to see if the organization has a minimum donation amount.

3. Donate the amount of your choice.

4. Send a receipt or proof of donation to me at [email protected]. Please include your ID number and ensure I can see the amount and organization, but feel free to block out any personal details. A screenshot of your webpage receipt or forwarding me the receipt the shelter/charity e-mails you would suffice!

5. Receive your rewards! :3

If you currently volunteer at a shelter/animal charity:
Aywas would like to extend our gratitude to you by offering you the full set of rewards above.
Simply email me at [email protected] with some sort of proof of your volunteer status and I'll get you taken care of! c: Please be sure to include your ID.

If you are not in a position to donate but still want to show your support for the cause, we have filled the BP Shop with animal-related goodies!

You will find 11 pets to collect (including the Kodama and the three pets above), along with some HA wearables.

Each box of the six above contains one corresponding shirt that says "I <3 Dogs," "I <3 Cats," "I <3 Animals," etc. and each is a different color and style. You can see how all of them look through the Preview Wardrobe option!

We also have four "wearable" accessories that fit in the bottom right corner of your HA box to add some scenery! You can also check these out with the Preview Wardrobe option.

The drive will be running until January 25th at 11:59 p.m., so all donations need to be made by this time, as well as all goodies snagged from the shop!

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact myself or Chianya (#12264).

We would also love to hear about your shelter/animal charity experiences, and if you have a suggestion for one to support, you are welcome to share it in the comments below.

As a site full of animal lovers, Aywas is very excited to be able to host a drive like this. <3
Thank you for your support!

Thank you for giving it a full week, as not everyone (me included) can turn on a dime financially, no matter how willing.

I work with a nationwide feral NEAR program, but not sure that qualifies...and we aren't registered as a formal nonprofit anyway, it's just an alliance of caregivers, vets, and other caring helpers across the country. We also (well, I do) operate a pet lost-and-found page on FaceBook - the ONLY thing that could lure me into getting ivolved with that mess, lol - called APB, the All Paws Bulletin, and we have been fairly successful in reuniting pets and owners, including a number who had ended up in shelters out of their original areas.

Love it!!!! I'm going to head back to my favorite local animal shelter -- no kill facility -- Happily Ever After and check on the animal friends and make a donation. We can't have pets at our house because of allergies, but I had dogs, hamsters, and guinea pigs growing up and love pets. :D

This is awesome but as I am only on disability and already caring for a colony of feral cats and caring for strays as it is, so I am unable to donate, but so glad when you all do this kind of thing to help the animals. They cannot speak for themselves, so we have to do it for them.

I cant help either with money as i have just enough to make it to the food bank i help at and back and to work and back. I will say though pets from shelters are awesome. I got a cat from friends (years ago) she died 4 years ago. I have been lonely ever since but do to personal problems I cant have cats with front claws. I freak out sadly.. Well i found a cat on the spca website before Christmas and went to see her that Monday. She wasn't there and they couldn't find her for an hour before saying she was transferred to another place and it wasn't open till tomorrow at 12! I left working at a food bank early got there at 12noon to be first in line for this (declawed 1 1\2year old cat black cat) lucky too. As soon as I asked to see her someone called to get her.. She is now sleeping under my desk. Best Christmas present ever;-) Was well worth the time and gas wasted to get her.

I had to donate at least $5. That Melo looks EXACTLY like my Rhyno :( Had her for 13 years and she was adopted. Been gone for 2 and a half years and I still miss her.

I'm glad for those who can donate. I wish I could, but being on total disability and very high cost of living expenses... yeah. That melo just calls out to me, tho. Now I'll have to put my site melo collection under the not-complete set since I won't be able to get that beautiful melo. @2741 - that is so awesome that you got to get a pet online that looks like your sweet cat! :)

Aw, you guys are so sweet. <3 All of my current kitties are shelter rescues. and we've had other cats in the past that we've pulled off the streets ourselves and kept/found homes for. And I spent years volunteering in the animal department of a children's museum; we took in dozens of rescue animals, both pets that needed homes and wildlife that were too hurt to go back to the wild. It's an issue that's very important to me! Though I'm not in a position to donate any money right now, it still makes me really happy that you're encouraging others to do so. ^_^
