One of our fellow Aywas members works at an animal shelter that's in the running to win some money for their cause!
It's called the Husky House, and it needs your votes to win. You can vote every day until Dec 22. I sure plan to!
We love shelters here at Aywas, so if you have a spare moment to vote, your effort could translate into a better life for some wonderful huskies :)

breed-specific shelters are becoming more and more important, especially for the larger working dogs and those with special requirements - I have voted (and occasionally had my feral organization) in the Shelter Challenge for as long as it's been running. Bookmarked the page for HH and will be voting daily - best of luck!

Huskies are a breed that wouldn't/doesn't do well in Tokyo - too hot for them - but I like them and as I couldn't find any shelter in Japan in that, I voted for that one. Plan to do so daily until the end of the event and get friends to do so, too.
Generally speaking, I'm more a cat person, though, so if there might be cat shelters, I might just vote for those, too (if it's possible to vote more than once - or alternate...)
And interesting point singingbadger made about breed specific shelters.

Wow, I signed on this morning after posting about this shelter challenge on tumblr last night and was very surprised to see this! I am just blown away, thank you so much for this signal boost and thank you so much to everyone who voted. And if you are voting for your own local rescue, that is awesome too! I hope lots of shelters get some awesome prizes out of this, it looks like a great contest.
