Site Update
In case you are wondering why the site seems to die every week for eight or ten hours, we're in a very... interesting, to say the least, predicament. Our server is actually devastatingly out of space, so it has moments weekly where it crashes and won't come back online.
I have a new server ordered with 2 TB of space (and actually double the RAM, which I'm interested to see how it handles the site's load) but we're trying to figure out how to migrate the data. You see, when you have a site this large, data migration can take 2-3 days due to the sheer amount of it. Yet, even if you let it migrate data in the background of the old server site running, new data is constantly being added (by the actions all of you take onsite, making pets, exploring, new accounts being registered, forum posts etc.), which means that new data doesn't get copied over to the new server as it's created on the old server.
So we have a fun situation where we're trying to figure out how to minimize the data loss in moving. It's obvious that we can't shut the site down for three or four days to migrate the data; that would just suck for all of us.
I have an idea but we'll just have to see how it pans out. It seems like what takes up the most space are custom images. The goal is to get moved to the new server by next week though.
Well, anyway, that's your little update. This situation is annoying for Yasu and I, believe me...

I believe the amount of pets are taking up a lot of the space.
Im sure that the more members that join and the more pets captured will make a huge strain on the server.
Maybe information should be stored on every server. E.g. Phantos and Chiros on one and Insi and Melo on another.
Just a thought. I have no idea how servers work, but Im sure this would solve the problem.
*Im also sure people would not mind a 3 day break as long as they recieved a prize or something for their loss of game play.*

Thank you so much for the update! I'm glad you guys are working so hard on it and honestly, the downtimes happen at bedtime so thanks for the extra couple hours of sleep! :D I love this site...a little downtime isn't gonna scare me away. <3

I think Subeta once did a rollback like what Fae suggested too. If people know in advance (let's say the warning shows up at every page on top, they just can't miss it that way), it shouldn't be too bad...

I'm pretty sure we were also instructed to delete as many unnecessary items and pets before that but that was a while ago.

I still think it being shut down for a few days to move stuff over isn't a big deal and worth doing in the long run. If you guys feel guilty about stuff we would miss because of the move and site shut down then just give all us active members a happy for being patient.
