Lilies and Cats

Site Update

For those of you celebrating Easter with lily flowers this weekend, and you have cats, please be careful and review this resource on lily poisoning in cats.

Fake lilies look just as lovely and won't be dangerous to your cats. Be careful!

almost all spring bulb plants (daffodils, hyacinths, crocus, etc) are dangerous as well, along with dahlias and many common house plants. the best rule of thumb is not to allow pets - or small children - access to ANY house plants or decorative live arrangements.

(nearly all Christmas plants are highly toxic as well)

Good reminder, thank you! It's amazing how many pets owners have no idea what can be toxic to their babies.

Wow I didn't know that. I don't have cats but that was still very informative. And a wonderful warning to all those cat owners out there. :D

Thanks, I had no idea. Bought some lilies for my grandma for Easter and we're keeping them here till Sunday, but far out of the reach of one cat who loves to get all up in plants' business whenever we bring plants in the house... we don't normally let him actually get near the plants (despite how much he wants to), but I'm glad I was careful with the lilies to start.

This is Very important thank you Aywas.
Im glad my my mom and me refuse to have plants like that. *you get to hate them when you work with them everyday.* I like wild flowers only! XD

Thank you so much! My mom didn't know that and I showed her, because this type of flower is her FAVORITE! She wanted me to thank y'all so much! It gave y'all a bonus point into making her want to join...

(Reminder: many varieties of the lily family both are wild flowers and are toxic. Being a wild flower doesn't make it safe.)

I love how this site not only does things that are site-related, but it also does things like this, or those charity events. It really makes me feel like a community full of people who care about everyone else :)
