unlike many of the other large cats, cheetahs are unable to retract their claws. which is helpful since they use them for traction when sprinting :)

When a new male lion takes over a pride it kills all of its predecessors cubs in order to encourage the females' reproductive system to restart so it can impregnate them. Females can't have more cubs if they are already raising some.

Every one LOVES The Jungle Book right!? Of course we all know that Bagheera that gorgeous black panther is a guy right!? Well! It just so happens that the Russion version turned him into a LADY, with THREE KIDS! All because the Russian word for panther is a feminine noun. So not the persnickety man panther we all know and love, but a mommy panther with wee wittle wons. :} What a bazaar sex change? Wonder what he thought when he all of a sudden became a lady, and then turned back into a man when disney came out with their version of the Jungle Book...
Poor sex confused Bagheera.

Saber-toothed cats have appeared at least twice independent of each other over history, however, most people are most familiar with the most recent, Smilodon, the saber-toothed "tiger".

Ligers are the only naturally occurring big cat the can both roar and chuff (the raspberry-like purring noise tigers make). Tigons, however, cannot roar! Both's only natural occurring habitat is the Gir National Forest in India. ^_^

Cheetahs are one of the most highly trainable big cats. They used to be trained specifically for hunting(where the owner would then run over to the cheetah and aid the killing of an antelope or deer once grounded and caught) in India till the early 1900's when cheetah populations began to decrease in India due to the fact they rarely if ever bred in captivity.... yeah i thought this was pretty interesting, there is also a video of this somewhere on youtube :'0 isn't that cool?

For the lion and lioness couple, it's all about quantity, not quality. Though romps usually only last for 10 seconds, the process is repeated up to 40 times a day -- now that's stamina!
10 second sex o-o Someone needs to call 1800 40 40 90 ;D
