Pinch punch! FirstFifth of the month! *smooth jazz hands*
So y'all might remember that not so long ago I tried to give you a copy of this rather pretty dress as a site-wide gift from Poe (#126) -
- and that tried was very much the operative word. :3 As it turns out I'm not hip with the kids or down with the times (hmm, or maybe they should be the other way round?), and the way I went about sending it was the equivalent of trying to send a photo on a Nokia 3310, i.e., rather archaic and frustrating for all involved (particularly the poor person trying to use a Nokia 3310 as a camera).
Nonetheless! Poe's Oh How Adorable! dress is now hanging up all nice in the Advent Calendar until 11:59pm August 6th, ready for you to take delivery if you did not receive a copy (like me!) or would just love to have an extra. Try not to crease it, and certainly try not to spill anything on it - drycleaning is expensive.

I am pleased to announce the winners of the 50k Member Ugliest Breeding Contests! All winners can be found in this thread with separate posts for the BC, LBC, and MBC winners. Congratulations to all on your... very... unique spawn!

I also wanted to draw everyone's attention over to the Adopt-a-Custom Pet Submissions thread that I have created. As I will be heading the feature from now on, I have opened up submissions for unique customs to add to our calendar! We're running a little low right now, and I for one would love to see it continue.
I'll be smoothing out rules and submission info for the feature as well, to better indicate what the judges panel will be looking for since there have been some concerns in the past for the way judging is done, for what is needed to win, etc. Be on the lookout for that and more!
And don't forget to check the news posts under mine, there's a lot of nifty info to start off the month there. :]

X-Ray Goggles will give you the ability to search for a genus in the Adoption Center.
The item is one-use, but permanently unlocks this capability on your account once you activate it from your inventory.

For our potion and pet collectors as well as our inner gamblers, we have the Essence of August 2013 stocking in the GP Shop. This magic potion will turn your active pet into one of the August 2013 monthlies above!
The premium monthly item is undergoing some tweaks, but I will tell you that it's the mysterious X-Ray Goggles! Stay tuned for an update on when you can collect your item and what special thing you'll be able to "see" with it. *wink*
Our monthly Lunaris is busy fixing its mane in front of a heavenly mirror, so we'll let you know as soon as it's ready to come home with our August babies!

Remember the starry Lunar Meteor region from last year?
This is an annually recurring region that will be opening back up for one week starting on August 13th!
As a reminder, the Nova custom items will remain in the GP/BP Shops for the rest of August, then cycle into the Premium Outlet for September, and then move back into their respective GP/BP Shop location for two months.
Breeding Season is underway with the new Alatus!
In addition to the breeding coin and package, you can also pick up a Hybrid Custom Crystal or Alternate Cube from the GP Shop for the duration of breeding season--from now until August 9th at 11:59 p.m.
Coding Corner
We have a lot of cool things to unveil for you this month!
In addition to fixes, restoring things like the Welcome Back page, and increasing general usability of the site, we'll be expanding the new Maze feature, trucking along on Adventure/Battling, and more!
We'll also be catching up on any stray manual tasks that need tending to, including issuing compensation care packages, the double BP event, etc.
You might also see some new folks turn green this week...!

A wild new hybrid has been spotted!

Love and magic are in the air
We are very excited to introduce you to the latest addition to our hybrid family--a creature that can be made by breeding a Maki and Gael together. (We're not sure how the mechanics of that work either, but it doesn't matter because just look at it!)
Meet the Alatus! :3

Since the Alatus is our only new hybrid this season and we're late in getting the Standing Stone enchantment on, we're featuring a few extra things in the GP Shop for this week only!
Of course, we have our star staples, the Breeding Coin and Breeding Coin Package.
But we're also offering the Hybrid Custom Crystal and the Alternate Cube for you custom hybrid lovers!
(PS, we will also be giving you three new hybrid pets next hybrid breeding season.)
To round out our hybrid fun, we're also hosting a Weekend Coloring Contest for the official Alatus! The deadline for the contest is August 4th at 11:59 p.m.
You might see some special raffles pop up this weekend, too! *wink*
Remember, breeding season is lasting through August 9th at 11:59 p.m., so the Breeding Coin, Breeding Coin Package, Hybrid Custom Crystal and Alternate Cube will all be available until then.
