Welcome to February!
Though February may be the shortest month of the year, it's going to be jam packed with new goodies, familiar favorites, and lots of love. :3
Let's kick off the second month of 2014 with two brand new batches of pets!
Show some love for the beautiful GP Shop pets looking for forever homes!

Drink to a new month with our cherry-flavored Essence of February 2014!
This glass cordial (crafted in honor of cherry month) will turn your active pet into one of the February monthlies shown above.
The Premium Monthly Item is the Mysterious Platinum DNA, a PBC breeding add-on that mixes up genetics!
This Platinum Breeding Coin add on will let you include a third parent to influence your offspring. The third parent will not be on the profile of the offspring. Put the URL to the pet you own in the artist comments if you use this add on.
Our February birthday Lunaris isn't quite ready to bloom, but I will let you know as soon as it is!
(And we'll handle any necessary swaps/refunds for you asap.)
The new monthly contests have been announced!
However, there are a few changes I would like to highlight before you dive into your art program (they're good, I promise).
- We have brought back the USD payment option for the GP/BP Shop contests.
- The BP Shop contest payout for GP has been raised to 12 GP (up from 10).
- A link to the PSD file of your entry is now required for GP/BP Shop contests.
- All contest entries (GP/BP Shop and monthly custom game) now have a submission form and have had their templates spruced up!
(These changes are not retroactive and apply only to contests moving forward.)
We are hoping that these changes positively impact the amount, variety and quality of entries we receive. :3 Additional tweaks may be made in the future, but we'd like to see how this goes!

We are also refreshing the Token genera list with...
... the Serafex! (Our mutant friend from this poll).
You can now upload your very own silly Serafex with Metal, Bronze, Blue or Gold Tokens.

Coding Corner
A monthly update from behind the scenes!
- the Adventure Revamp Team is hard at work! If you haven't visited the thread yet, you can peruse the pages to see what sorts of things this team is wrestling with.
- staff is focused on enhancing the Knowledge Base and removing outdated information/defunct pages from the site.
- we know that everyone is missing our handy search, which unfortunately has had some programming hiccups, so this task has been assigned to a new programmer who will be able to tackle it this month. You can check on this thread to see Slash's updates for more info.
There's plenty of other things we'll be tinkering this month, along with new surprises and events to look forward to, especially since love is in the air!
Love Letters: Coming soon to a lair near you!
(If you have any Love Letters hanging around from last year, DO NOT attempt to use them yet. There will be an announcement when it's safe to bombard one another with our favorite red and pink envelopes! And if you have no idea what I'm talking about because this is your first Valentine's Day with us, stay tuned! :D)

All right! Lots of stuff to go through in this news post before Eri bombards you with the big February starter ;)
First, some updates to the Painted Breeding Coin! There's a brand new talisman stocking in the USD Shop that gives you a little discount on buying three PLBCs separately, for those who may be interested.
Also, two new add-ons have been released for the coin: the Painted Pen which lets you indicate three public PLBC artists you approve of having your breeding assigned to (like a lesser Artist Ticket, basically), and the Painted Gold, which opens the coin up to including Lunaris, Vion, Flux, Selkie, Serrul, Finn.
In other news, the Koaf, Serrul, and Selkie were added to the genera allowed to be bred with the coin without the use of addons. Xaocs, Neuras, and Violinns are the only genera excluded at the moment.
Our bundle of new Breeding Addons is in!
You can now get star/celestial themes, plushie themes, pirate themes, ocean themes, nature themes, music themes, elemental themes, and dragon themes with your breeding. Most of these stock in the BP Shop, with the exception of the Ocean, Music, and Element add-ons which are exclusive to the Random Breeding Addon.
The Metal Ball was a requested addon for Holiday Breeding Coins, which indicates to the artist that there should be no edits added to the bases. That's available for a minor amount in the BP Shop as well.
The Foo Fang is a special SCC species donated by Vulture! It is available in the USD Shop as well for $7.99.
It allows for 50% edits.
The Jeweled Crystal is saying goodbye to its old bases and welcoming in new ones!
These were made by Vulture and Liv.
New item! The Jeweled Hybrid Crystal works similar to the above. Here are the monthly bases for it:
This is in the USD Shop for $9.99. The bases were made by Miss Mally.
Firehazard has been coloring site-paid Jeweled Crystals, which you can buy (with their upload) for a Metal Paint Brush. Jeweled Hybrids and Foo Dogs both have a price of a Blue Paintbrush, so if any of that interests you, be sure to stop by. She's very productive and makes tons of designs!
As an aside, we know that some of you don't like the USD Shop, but you do need to consider this: the USD Shop has stabilized Aywas' rocky income for the past two months it's been open. Not only have we been able to pay large work advances to reliable members of the breeding team, but we've been able to fund everything the PBC team has been producing without having to limit the number of PBC breedings assigned a week to a budget. This is all good news and thanks to the stabilized income, and has made a huge difference in the labor we're able to afford.

Help-a-Pet Update

Evening! :3
I just wanted to provide a quick update that all of the Help-a-Pet donation/volunteer emails I received on Saturday have been processed. You should have a reply letting you know that your request was completed (or a question if there were any issues).
If you sent me an email and have not received a reply, please resend your email along with a PM on here to ensure I know to go digging for it (in case it's getting hidden in Spam or it went to the wrong address), but I think I got everyone!
I'll provide a final tally of our donation drive efforts as soon as the calculations are finalized. c:

The winning HA sets have been placed into their respective shops!
For last month, the set in the GP Shop earned 180 GP per artist, the set in the BP Shop earned 908,000,000 BP per artist, and the set in the Premium Outlet earned 3206 PP per artist.

Baking Koafs!
Pets
Mmm, it smells like someone is baking something sweet in the kitchen!
If you're having a lazy Sunday or are stuck indoors without heat due to Polar Vortex 2.0 and are trying to keep your house warm
We're heating things up with the Coal Koaf, now craftable from the Metalsmithing Shop.
The Trash for Treasure shop has received a batch of six new Koafs, including the ones depicted above!
We have also shined up our Premium Shop offerings with a Wedding Cake and Maneki Neko pair!
And finally, we've added a dessert Pavlova Koaf to the Annoying Item Bazaar. It seems one of this Koaf's secret ingredients might be Green Ocoberries!
We hope you enjoy the tasty kitties! :3
(As a note, we haven't released the Koaf random potion--the Curious Milk Jug--quite yet since we'd like to add a few more colorations to the pool first.)

Help-a-Pet Day Reminder!

Our Help-a-Pet Day donation drive has already been a huge success, but there's still time left to get your donation in! Please see the original news post for tiers and instructions.
All donation emails have been taken care of up to this point (Jan 25th @ 2:40 p.m. AST).
I also wanted to remind everyone that the Pawprint Dog Bed works indefinitely, so you don't have to rush a design. :)
Don't forget to pick up the Help-a-Pet items and pets from the BP Shop!
We are accepting donations and selling the BP Shop goodies through 11:59 p.m. tonight!
