Art Gallery Notice

Site Update

As we near Sunday (when the first six Art Gallery winning submissions will be selected and displayed), I find myself getting a bit concerned with the entries. To be frank, like 90% of them aren't following the rules. An entry that does not follow the rules will not win a prize, regardless of how good the entry is.

Common errors

- Not putting username and ID on the image

- the image not being Aywas related (seriously? Why do people keep uploading seemingly random images?)

- the work having a copyright notice on it (this wasn't explained in the Art Gallery, but it is in the TOS - everything you submit to us that is Aywas-related becomes our property, so you cannot have your copyright on an Aywas image)

Don't forget - the deadline for this is 11:59 PM on SATURDAY, as the six winners will be announced on Sunday. Don't be late, there is SP and a rare item on the line!

I agree, Its just fan art, It still is YOUR art, but once you submit it to aywas,, slash can use it in anyway. HONESTLY, if my art was chosen for something like an add, or something to promote aywas I would be honored.

The complaining, is like saying, just because you changed the lineart to a melo, you have full rights to it, Well yes, YOU changed the lineart that was made for AYWAS, It belongs to AYWAS but you made it.

Only thing i see about aywas owning any submitted work is a good thing - any thief who will try to steal that peace would be able to get their asses sued by law, not just a banhammer C: And now... watch me sprite all night long to be on time *flails* :|

Fine, I just won't ever submit anything. At this point I don't care if it's legal or not, it sounds immoral and backwards to ME, and I don't want someone else technically owning my work. I did have a thought, though; what about the person whose design was picked for the breeding coin necklaces? Are they seeing anything from that beyond "hey we picked so and so's design for this"? I'd sure want to see a little profit from that, but that's why I would never bother with submitting something like that. >_>

I'm not even sure what you're asking. No one's design was used for a breeding coin necklace except a design we commissioned specifically for it. Care to explain?

@ Somnomania: Not exactly sure what scenario in particular you are referring to, but whenever Aywas throws a contest the prizes are outlined and winners are rewarded accordingly. If a user submits custom items or site designs, they are paid for it in GP (and sometimes SP) too. I personally have never crossed a user who has been taken advantage of.

I honestly don't understand why people are complaining about the rules. it's like this almost everywhere. Aywas isn't saying you don't have rights, but anything you submit that is related to their creations becomes copyrighted to them. Doesn't mean they will deny that you drew it, it just means that the artwork you agreed to submit will give them free range to distribute, etc. It's like submitting something to an art contest. Sure, if you win, the picture will still belong to you, in terms of you having drawn it and you getting credit. but whoever runs the contest can use your art freely because you agreed to submit it. That's why winning stuff/names/etc can be announced
and displayed places, because the actual artwork is now owned by whomever created the contest/event. Unless otherwise stated (I've seen places that let you keep all your rights/credits), it's almost always this way. Basically, it just means it's a nono to redistribute for profit once submitted, I think.

I have a question though: If we win an art contest here though, can we display on art sites, if we give credit to Aywas? :)

I thought an image becoming Aywas' property had only to do with the actual pets submitted, not custom character art commissions =/
