Art Gallery Notice

Site Update

As we near Sunday (when the first six Art Gallery winning submissions will be selected and displayed), I find myself getting a bit concerned with the entries. To be frank, like 90% of them aren't following the rules. An entry that does not follow the rules will not win a prize, regardless of how good the entry is.

Common errors

- Not putting username and ID on the image

- the image not being Aywas related (seriously? Why do people keep uploading seemingly random images?)

- the work having a copyright notice on it (this wasn't explained in the Art Gallery, but it is in the TOS - everything you submit to us that is Aywas-related becomes our property, so you cannot have your copyright on an Aywas image)

Don't forget - the deadline for this is 11:59 PM on SATURDAY, as the six winners will be announced on Sunday. Don't be late, there is SP and a rare item on the line!

(PS: Spensey-poo is going to be rapid-fire stocking the plush shop at 10:00 PM)

I was drawing something for the Lunaris contest but now I don't know if I'll finish it because of how Aywas will own it. Not saying it's good enough but what if they used it for promo art? Or even a different pose? Or offered my design as a pet? I understand stating that the Lunaris is Aywas property, it is, but the drawing would be mine....but it seems we can't even claim that? No thanks. Too bad because I love the site and the Lunaris...SP/Items are always tempting too.

If you don't agree to the TOS, either exercise your right to not submit or create ANYTHING associated with this site, including text or forum posts if that bothers you too, or immediately leave the site.

I would suggest you try reading the TOS of other sites like Neopets or Facebook if you think this is unusual.

Also - somnomania (#1192)-- when someone registers, they agree that they have read the TOS and will abide by them. That means they AGREE to give away all rights to Aywas content they produce and submit. If they don't bother to read the TOS, that's not my concern. They informed me upon registering that they agreed to it.

Again, if it's an issue, either don't submit anything (text included), or immediately leave the site, because no one is legally allowed to have an account without agreeing to the TOS.

Heck even check Deviantart's submission policy. They aren't taking the ownership of your work, but look at everything you are granting them to do with your work: https://about.deviantart.com/policy/submission/

They can use your work to promote their site, license it to other people in association with DA, use it in derivative works that you have no right to, etc etc. They can even use your name, photo, and personal info if they want. And you agree on DA that they can do it all for free, too.

And that's not even DA-related stuff. That's everything on there.

Any artwork you make related to the Lunaris, whether posted in the Lunaris day thread or not, is still eligible for a prize via the Art Gallery.

I know it says name and id but if we plan on moving..how will that work? Just put your name on an image? x-D Also I dont get the big issue with the copyright. I can see getting upset if you drew an original character and posted it on your profile only to see it placed in a add, but fanart? Slash does own the pet designs.. and most pet sites do that. o.o If you drew a picture of one of my characters I would expect to be given the right to link to,print or post your illustration. That or have a say in wether you can post/create a recreation of my design.

Yes, well. If someone doesn't agree to how I want to control derivative works of my property, then they shouldn't be creating any derivative works.

To answer your questions-

1. Cross-stitching is accepted! All forms of art are accepted that are visual and related to Aywas. Drawings, sculptures, plushes, etc.

2. The username and ID on the image should match the account that performed the submission. If you move accounts, that information cannot be changed.
