Good evening everyone! I am going to preface this with that I have been uploading Teos, Oets, Snoodles, and Faux to the May Day Pot for about the past 12 hours, so my brain is pudding, but I am going to try to be as clear as I can!
This is your pre-May Day notice! The sale begins Thursday, May 25th at 11:00 PM AST! The way this works for those of you who are new or just don't remember, we use a special sort of USD Credit that only gets added to your account if you buy it within the sale time! Any USD purchases of Items or GP outside of that time will go to the "Normal" credit, which will not be able to be used until the last day. So make sure that you do all purchases after 11:00 PM Aywas time.
That being said, you will have one hour to do your buying before the real crazy time starts! At midnight, one hour after the sale begins, the Glowing Teo Egg will usable! Collect it beforehand with the Collect Bonus tiers!
You then use your Glowing Teo Egg in the May Day Pot to grab one of the custom Exotic species! It is first come first serve, so make sure you do some window shopping and get your chosen lined up, and make sure that your lair has enough free space.
As a personal note, it has been an absolute pleasure working with all of you and watching each of you grow with each set, but then on that same note it is killing me on the inside, because wow, there are some amazing sets, and I just want them all!

Many jobs are commissioned based. Interior design, web design etc. Art can and is a viable source of income and for those of us struggling to find work elsewhere its a godsend to have sites like this that allow the exchange of currencies for work.
Perhaps if you find it distasteful and can't find any opportunities here then perhaps an art driven/ based site is not for you?

Aurelian (#71991) Well, for those of us who can do physical work that's all well and good.
A lot of the artists I know on this site are either unable to work a regular job due to health, family situations, school etc. and for them Aywas is an opportunity to contribute to their households or to make a little money to help with bills or to spend something on themselves for a change. You may not approve of it, but it IS a viable source of income for a lot of people who have sunk hours upon hours of hard work into learning to do what they do - and unfortunately still end up making less than minimum wage for the hours they put in most of the time.
So have some consideration for other people's situations, eh? There's more than one way to make a living, and being payed for art as a service is no different than being payed to mow someone's lawn or run a cash register. Everyone has their own strengths and passions, and for those who can make a living doing something they love you might consider congratulating them rather than begrudging them for getting paid to provide a service that you can't.

There are opportunities for non-artists. The first and foremost one is earning items and BP through Adventure. That right there means you can make Random Lunaris Potions, trash items to get Trash Points for stuff, get BP to buy other items and GP, etc. You can buy things from the BP Shop and turn them around for GP, even, although that is a little harder and you have to gauge the market.
Not an artist? I played this game for nearly two years without ever touching the art aspect. Collect seasonal currency and sell it for a profit when you have surplus. Buy up monthly pets to sell later for pet collectors. The biggest one is selling BP for GP. That's a thing.
The internet opens up a wider venue for artists to sell their work. They don't have the luxury of having a rich benefactor to constantly provide them with work, and therefore wages, the way that (famous/good/influential) artists in history used to, but the internet means that they don't have to rely on a handful of people. They can work from home, too, and for people who cannot work a 9 to 5 job, that's really important. Some friend across the country told me that some artist is really great, and I want to commission them? No problem; I'll just shoot them an email and they'll get it right away. It doesn't make art worth any less, or earning the money any easier.

BTW, friends: should I be able to snag a pet (or two, or three) from the Mayday Pot thing, I'm going to raffle it off. I don't need special pets as, being a breeding artist, I get more GP than I can ever use, so I would rather the pet go to someone who can't spend any money at all. (Which sounds braggy, and I apologize if it does, but it's true.)

I guess they kind of HAVE to mention the whole "if there are any pets left" thing [in regards to post-Monday], but I have yet to see pets left after even the first day of such sales. And not being artistic, either, that puts me at a severe disadvantage, seeing as there's no way to "flip" BP in any way that would help with this particular event.
If there's on thing I'd love to see more of on Aywas, it's more opportunities for those of us who can't even draw a decent stick figure. There are the occasional writing contests, for instance, but they're very very rare, especially when compared to all the ways artists have to get "paid".

There's almost always pets left over for the last handful of sales. Ever since things were changed to use only USD bonus credit earned during the span of the sales, there hasn't been a single day one sell-out.
And there's also usually folks selling the special sale eggs for GP, so with enough planning ahead, you can be converting BP to GP in preparation to attempt to purchase an egg from another user.
