Aketch Repellent!

Site Update

foodenergy_witchycandy.pngaketch_icon.pngfoodenergy_evilcandy.png

Staff would like to give a very special shout out to the folks over in the Aketch Repellent Thread! They have been working tirelessly to try to figure out the Trick or Treating system and recently their search has been fruitful! They discovered through rigorous testing that the trick was not Aketch.. but Greta!

This mischievous Lunaris actually swaps your Karma! So even those folks who have been giving out nothing but candy can still turn to negative Karma once they see her! She's just so sneaky and treacherous!

So once more, a very, very special shout out to that thread! You worked together as a team, and you were able to crack the code! There is still a bit more that they are working on, so if anyone is interested in helping out go on over, their quite the friendly group!
Congratulations guys!

Please make sure you check out the older news posts! It's been a busy day today!

The event was purely optional, and nobody has been required to participate in it. If you are disappointed, then do not do it? I am quite proud of the users who figured out the solution, and while you cannot avoid Greta one does not have too. You simply have to re-adjust your karma after she sees you.
This news post is to praise those who have worked so hard for the goal of the site, and I would greatly appreciate if everyone would show some appreciation, or at least be polite towards the point of the news post. I can understand if you are upset, however this is not the place to state it.

Glad that's cleared up! Thanks everyone!

My only complaint is that there's no karma counter on the candy page so you know where you're at. I know that some people can easily keep count, but unfortunately I am not one of them.

I would also be on the side of having a karma counter to help keep count of how much karma you have. If you can keep track of things such as points for the unus event and how many points you get for knocking would it be too hard to code that? o: I work 40 hours a week, and I only can ToT about 10 minutes at a time so keeping track of karma isn't really easy for me. I've only been hit by Aketch a couple times and I think for people who are worried about their karma being thrown out of balance it would make it a little better for them? (or, like me, because I don't get to do it often helps keep track of things)

so let me get this straight. for optimal candy purposes, you should just treat with regular positive karma, but should switch to tricking after seeing Greta until you see Greta again?

Though I think some people have a right to preturbed. As some people like to help others and be nice by treating everyone and this could have led them to get bad karma because of the Greta thing and it kinda sucks being punished for doing good. sure, it's called trick or treat, but if people don't really trick irl... so.. i don't see the name being so relevant to "the game" so to speak... i think if you are gonna make treating cost 1k BP and tricking being free, the very least that could have been done is kept karma well.. karma-y... now there is no reason for anyone to always treat... and the whole concept of karma is kinda pointless now... so while it is rather clever and i do applaud the thread for figuring it out. lawdy knows i'd never have the patience to try and figure it out ... I don't like the idea of potentially having to trick people who treated me just to save face so i'm not going to participate. Not that i have been lately.

Though i'm very antsy not participating due to some unknowns. I wish at least we could be told what is balancing out the trick or treating so we don't feel like we are screwing ourselves over (in terms of the eventual shop) due to not trick or treating... as i believe it said adventure would be balancing it out? but I'm not sure how.. if it is by pumpkins, i'm concerned because i hardly get pumpkins and chests are p. much a bust as i don't want to buy keys just for a small chance and treasure chest keys don't appear in the haunted house level (which might be a mistake? as one of the haunted house exploration levels asked for a bunch of items including a treasure chest key and i thought it only asked for items you found in the level....)

DrunkConquistador (#64472) ~ If I understand it correctly, it just means that if you are at (fake numbers here) +20 karma and you see Greta you'll now be at -20 karma. Which would mean you need to go treat people until you are at 0+ karma instead of negative, not that you would need to start tricking people.
