Please Be Careful

Site Update

We have been encountering a rising number of scams associated with trading with other game sites ("cross site trading"). To ensure your protection, please be careful when trading with other sites.

- If you are SENDING Aywas Stuff to another Aywas account for something offsite, you are fully protected by Aywas Staff. In the event the other party does not send your goods offsite, you can come to us and we will reverse the transaction so you get your Aywas stuff back.

- If you are SENDING Other Site Stuff offsite in exchange for Aywas Stuff, you are not protected by Aywas Staff. The player you sent the stuff to on the other site may not have the goods to give you on Aywas. In addition, there have been incidents of purchasing GP and then chargebacking it after spending it on other site goods - and that results in the "illegitimate GP" being removed from the site (and your account, if you traded with them).

If you play any games where the staff does not recover your items from scams, please be EXTRA CAREFUL with your trades. Trade only with players you know very well and that you are certain will not scam you.

I'm glad to see the site give out a warning, and the fact you guys are willing to do what you can to protect those who might or have gotten scammed. Rarity amongst gaming sites sadly=(

Huh, didn't know this was an issue. Kind of makes me wonder what happened.

If you worry about FR - I recommend #81 as well. He and I have traded extensively and I trust him.

Jazzalicious (#1178) Thank you so much for looking -- I appreciate that!! :D And I did see some good advice out here too. And there's a few people that I can think of that I trade with often and never have an issue.

It's those few bad apples, you know?

Aywas is wonderful and so helpful -- I so enjoy this site :D

Holy cow. That sucks reaver toes. Dx
Hope some good mac bans fix the problem. Usually it's one bad egg when we get a sudden rash of scams.

Sorry to see this happening, someone recently tried to scam me through Mycena Cave & was after our GP. I posted this guide on MC, so I figured I should post it here, too.

Tips on avoiding being scammed:
1. Make sure the user is established on both sites (look at profile, posts, threads, etc.)
Do they have nice pets? Customs? If they have a lot, they're less likely to scam you. Besides checking pets, you can look through their posts and/or threads to see if there's anyone complaining against the user (or to see if they've successfully traded with others). Looking over posts has saved me from being scammed before. When did they join? If they're new, especially to both sites, you should ask them to initiate the trade.

2. Know when to go first/how much you're "willing to risk".
Cross-site trading is a gamble because you can potentially lose your earnings. There are sites that will work with you when you've run into an issue (e.g. aywas) and ones that won't (e.g. flightrising). If they're asking for a lot or have never traded with them before, ask them to send their portion first. If they're asking for smaller portions, it's generally okay to send your portion first. How much you're willing to "risk" is up to your discretion, but if they're asking to trade for a small amount, I personally don't mind sending my half first.

3. Always conduct sales on site.
What I mean by this is to never agree to make sales off-site (e.g. aim, skype, another site that has nothing to do with the sites you're trading). You want administration to be able to dig up any conversation(s) you've had with the user that shows the agreement between both parties.

4. Know what administration will do on a site if you are scammed.
Another thing that is important is to know how a site handles scams & what they'll do for you in case you are scammed. As stated before, some sites like Flight Rising make it publicly known that in the event that you do get scammed through cross-site trading they will not return anything. With these sites if you don't want to risk anything, always ask the other user to initiate the trade before sending anything.

if scammed, contact administration on both sites with any/all proof you have. Just make sure you give the user enough time before reporting the user.

Wouldn't banks be interested in suspicious chargebacking activities?

So, between FR and Aywas the person sending GP should always send first, as it's safer for everyone?
