Character workshop~!

Site Update

I really have no idea why I picked this image, it's just for aesthetics

When Aywas opened up more than three years ago, I hadn't actually expected anyone to want to play it (considering the previous site I'd opened up hadn't had more than five or six people on at a time), so much of the site was pretty rushed! I knew pet sites needed characters in them, so I'd tossed in some roleplay characters with a very close friend of mine that I knew well so I could have fun playing them :)

I gave staff the green light to start adding new characters of their design to the site about a year back, but how about we open this up to everyone who'd like to contribute?

Under the suggestions forum is a new subgroup, the Character Workshop!! All you have to do to contribute a character to the site is snag a profile off the current list and fill it out, then add some reference pictures. A new character artist will be selected in about a month and all the new characters will make their debut!

Try to make your character as related to Aywas as you can, that's what makes the world more grounded! And don't forget, your contributed character can be human, anthro, or pet... it's all up to you!

Have fun!

Do we 'have' to have reference pictures? I'd rather not crudely draw my characters. Can the artist work off profiles? For those of us not of artistic mind. I know you'll say that quality doesn't matter, but it matters to me. I'd rather not butcher some lines and colours to make a character, I can make more sense with words than vision.

This is really awesome, I'm glad to see this! I can't wait to learn about all the new characters (: I know we have a lot of people who aren't artists; hopefully I can help out with some sketching later on in the month for those who can't draw it themselves.

If we're thinking of making a character that belongs to one of the current pet genuses could we use/edit the official lineart of the genus instead of sketching something out from scratch?
