Site Update
Sorry for the small explosion, folks, we've still been working on implementing suggestions. Here are some new ones we got through today:
- You can now select a "Bald" hairstyle for your Human Avatar in the Salon.
- Museum Collections will no longer be removed and will instead be Retired, there is a page for viewing retired museum collections and the progress you made on them, though you cannot add to them anymore.
- For 5 GP, you can now "Lock your pet" from modifications by utilizing the link on your "My Pets" page. Look for "Lock (Pet) from Modification". This will make it so when that pet is active, you will not be able to use the Rogue Zap feature or morphing potions. It also stores data on what that pet was (its species, or its custom image) so if it does get changed, it can be easily recovered.
- You can now sort the Item Database by Explore Region to look at all the items in a particular region.

I like the lock pet idea but I don't see why we should have to pay 5 gp. If it's a custom, we already paid for that. Why should we have to spent 5 gp just to insure our custom stays a custom? :c

Whooooo new features! 8D I would support having an option to pay with BP instead for the lock feature, just for the sake of convenience and not making GP even more difficult to buy. Lol although with a 250k BP per GP equivalent, it would be 1.25mil not 1.5mil.

Answer to the "why should we pay to keep our custom safe" question: Because if your custom gets messed up, it's 100% your fault - the only way to have your custom screwed up is through user error. It's not the site's responsibility to prevent or fix user error. The custom lock was an extra thing that the site PAID to have coded for you - they already did all the work for the custom making, why should they also include pet locks for free if the coding wasn't free? There's absolutely no requirement that you lock your pets, so don't. :) Just be very careful like I always have been. Though I'm happy to lock my BC babbies.

"Why should I have to pay to insure something I've already paid for?"? Welcome to Real Life. In Real Life, the manufacturer of a product is not liable for your own muck-ups, even IF you insure something. Be glad they're offering the service at all.

But aywas isn't real life :/
In any case, as far as I see, if we paid for the custom, we should get to keep the custom under any circumstance regardless of whether or not it was user error. We already help pay for the coding of the site with our custom crystals and our monthly subscriptions. It is ridiculous that we have to pay anything, especially at such an obscene price, to keep what we have already paid for. That, of course, is just my personal opinion. You're free to disagree with me all you want but I think it's just silly to charge anything.
On the other hand, I am quite happy with all the other new updates.

Yes you paid for your custom, burt owning the custom is still your responsibility. It shouldn't be the site's job to fix your mistake for you if you accidentally zap your custom. It's your responsibility to "take care" of your custom. Thats why if you want the site to be responsible for it, you pay extra for that service.
Owning a custom is a privilege, not a right nor necessity

I just see it as a dangerous sense of entitlement. "I did this, I did that, I got the other thing. It shouldn't be my responsibility to keep it that way." Anyone should be perfectly capable of not making such mistakes on their own. That is nothing more than carelessness, especially since there are already barricades in place to prevent such things from happening.

I don't think the pet lock is too expensive at all. There's no reason to lock EVERY one of your customs, just the one(s) that you have active when you're browsing around the site.
