MBCs and other announcements

Site Update

The main point of this newspost is to announce that MBCs have been upped in price in the BP Shop, to 3,000,000 BP each. I know some people might be disappointed in this, but I've seen that they are a bit too easy to get right now with how readily available BP is right now. Price hikes in order to combat a growing Aywas economy are to be expected, so I hope everyone can understand this change! Any items are subject to this within reason, and we consistently monitor the market to balance things out.

I also want to use this post to take people back a bit. Remember this proposition we made about making old x new lineart breedings predict-only? This came into effect March 22nd of this year. It includes Half LBC, LBC, and MBC, and I've realized that many people after that cutoff date continued to submit old x new lineart breedings that sit in the queue and clog it up.

So this is a warning to you all -- it was an unspoken rule in the past that we allowed a month to submit predicts in before you might risk not having them used due to the queue moving along. This is still a reminder for all other breedings to get predicts in quicker, but it pertains to these old x new breedings in particular. All people with an old x new breeding after the above cutoff date have until October 1 to submit predicts for it. After that, I will be going through and refunding all outstanding old x new breedings past March 22nd.

You would be surprised at how much this could potentially speed the queue along. There's still a lot left, and our dedicated artists have done well at cutting down the old x new prior to that date and getting out your offspring! Any before March 22nd will still be completed by artists, so don't fret there.

One last little thing -- please, please be sure to read the descriptions on the new breeding add-ons. There are rules for a reason! For example:

Edit Potion + Hybrid Embryo = Legit! 1 offspring, 50% edits, random hybrid species.

Edit Potion + Greater Fertility Potion = Not legit! Edit Potion = 1 Offspring, so you can't get two!

Artist Palette on a BC breeding = ...Doesn't work for this coin!

My policy is generally not to refund mistakes if I come across them in the queue. If a user contacts me, however, and explains their issue I do take more consideration on a case-by-case basis. If you submit and just neglect to read, though, I won't refund you! So heed this and happy breeding!

I think the increase in MBCs is because of the apples, so once they get used up, they'll go down again. I went through maybe 30 apples myself and got 2 MBCs. I know it may be a queue problem atm because of it, but I don't think it's because of increased BP in circulation. Unless you have some kind of super insider information, but that's what I've seen anyway.

"how readily available BP is right now" Ha! I have to scrimp and save just to get all the BP shop pets I want each month, and have pretty much nothing left after. Good thing I have never bothered with the whole breeding thing here.

Slash actually said that MBCs were really rare to get in apples. I got one in 30+ apples myself, so. I see a lot of people with BP as well, just from trading and buying, and since the GP to BP ratio is 200k - 1 GP and up, it means that people have more BP to spend somewhere. It can be seen from many angles imo. I've watched the market for quite some time now and from the buying and selling going on, people can afford to pay 2m for a plushie, and down millions on collections, so.

Good. Maybe this will finally make people a little kinder to you poor breeding artists. c:

I just don't see it. There's a ton of stuff to buy on this site. I fail to see how the apples made that big of a difference. Every bit of that money (for me) went to obtaining AD pets I was missing. I'm sure others spent it on plushies, art, designs, customs, breeding, or maybe even CDs. This seems fruitless to me.

The thing is you're looking at two different types of transactions.
Player to player trades simply shift wealth around, while neither creating nor destroying it. Things like Flaming apples, bank interest, Explore, Throwing bones, breeding kickbacks, etc actually create money out of nowhere. Think of them as taps, pouring water. MBC's are one of the main "drains" for all that water (BP), they destroy the funds taking it out of the economy. With less money in circulation you should see prices stabilize or even fall for other commodities.

Spade: I don't know the exact numbers or probabilities, but let's say 600 people got only 1 apple a day and each got only 25k (the min) from them, and they did it every day in August. That'd be 465,000,000 new BP in the economy, and I know that there had to have been more than that. Again, I don't know how much BP is in the economy right now and how much the apples added, but I definitely think they influenced inflation.

I have a BP sink idea that I should really post in Suggestions...

I kinda agree with Linnet there, the fact that I have 300k = 1GP in my design shop and people STILL prefer to pay in BP than GP means there's a lot more BP in the market than there used to be. Coupled with a lack of GP around due to it being sunk quite nicely with custom crystals, BP is currently rather easier to get.

I think there needs to be a place on the site that explains what's an "old line" pet of a particular species and what's a "new line" pet of a particular species, if you don't want people messing up when they submit predicts. Like, for instance, I joined back in late February and I'm still not sure which Melo is "old" and which is "new"... Newer members shouldn't be expected to know everything that came before on a pet site.

I only got two MBC from a apple the whole time. But I kept buying them when people put them for 800K to 1Mill in stores. I .. may have gone overboard. I'm sorry. [evil evil evil giggle]
