Hey everyone, long time no see! -- at least, it feels like weeks and weeks for me.
I'd hoped someone would update you on my situation, but basically everything got a little tangled up over the last couple of days due to some offline issues on my part. My router completely abandoned me this weekend and only just started working about an hour ago, so I'm hoping the connection holds through this severe snowstorm we're having. I spent almost the entirety of New Year's Eve in the ICU because my grandfather fell suddenly ill, and I'm sad to say that we lost him New Year's Day. As I'm sure you can imagine, this week has not been the best. I don't want to flood the News with personal things, but I did want to let you know a snippet of what was going on.
Due to my absence, some handy staffies pulled together to work on the Seasonal Shop, but it's not yet finalized and isn't stocking everything I wanted to put in there.
There will be a very large news post made when it officially opens tomorrow, so please do not purchase anything until then.
Before we announce something as ephemeral as a seasonal shop, it's generally buyer beware, because the lack of update means we're probably still adding and tweaking things.
I know people have already made purchases, you eager little munchkins, so I will try not to alter things too severely.
I also have some fun New Year's things to add along with new January pets and the premium item, so just sit tight for those!

Next week's bonus explore pets are the Vyne, Rogr, and Lacer!
If you color one of the above species and have it accepted, you'll receive 10 GP per coloration accepted instead of the normal 3GP!

It was solved. Good job. The portal will open at midnight...
You find a portal has opened in the rock in the Arctic.
It requires a password.
HINT: You have to get a four digit number out of the riddle, then you need to put that somewhere... there are two obvious solutions, and one is correct - and when you're correct, you'll see the tag on the page!
The first ten people to post the portal's password will be rewarded richly, and others can follow those groundbreaking individuals into Ara.

I'm going to be working on some uploads for the seasonal shop now, so if you're around tonight, swing by the thread in Aywas Talk to keep me company!
Not sure how much I'll get done tonight since I do need some help from Yasu and Slash before making things live, but you'll at least get a sneak peek at things to come! n_n

12 Days of Christmas + User Feature

June + Snow (#618)
A little more than two weeks ago, when I was brand new here, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. At all. So, hoping to find some friends or help, I posted a message to the introductions board and was immediately and warmly welcomed by June. But to my surprise, I was given more than a warm welcome. 5 million BP!
June is a very kind and generous person, helping to answer question after question as I explored the site and ran into problems. And even after all of her help, she even offered to buy me anything else that had caught my fancy on the site. All of this to a total stranger, who she would have no idea if the user would even stay on the site or not.
Without her help, starting off would have been a challenge, and I'm positive many other users have been assisted by her as well. I think June is more than deserving of some appreciation. c:

This is a bit of an odd set of wishes. I know I just started so it is probably highly unlikely that this will happen.
Site Wishes - I did some pondering and I though this would be a good idea. In the Cash Shop there is a Christmas Tree. It is very expensive but it allows random cash shop gifts to five players (but being the creators you knew that >.<). So my wish would be that instead of receiving the Christmas Tree myself that the staff would pick five random player ID's to send random Cash Shop items to on Christmas day. I think that would make a wonderful Christmas gift to five lucky players.
My other site wish is that a random gift chosen by staff be given to Glace Leau (#32554) for being such a wonderful community member by sending me a Christmas present even though I had just started playing the game.
I know these are not wishes for myself but I really have a hard time thinking of things for me and I always prefer to offer others gifts around this time of year instead.
Instead of a Christmas Tree or the gift of one random item, we have decided to let you make the days of twelve other users a little brighter on Aywas. I will contact you and you can then give me a list of twelve people and an item you chose for each of them to be awarded with. :3
Just because some holidays are over doesn't mean the spirit has to end. <3

Alright, so here's what's going on!
Other than drowning in Eggnog, I am getting a lot of things ready for you guys. :3
I tried whipping Slash into doing the final 12 Days of Christmas wish, but that backfired on me, so I will be granting the final wish tonight as well as be resuming user features! (We'll extend this into January a little bit for the days we missed.) Please take a moment to nominate someone, especially if you haven't done so yet!
I'm also going to be working on Seasonal Shop uploads tonight. If you want to keep me company while I do so, keep your eye out for a thread I'll be making in Aywas Talk! (I'll post a link to it in the news when I make it, so don't hurt your hand refreshing. XD)
We also have a couple of small New Year's goodies to release soon, so there's a lot to look forward to!

Art Gallery & AyMas Updates

For those of you who celebrated a holiday this weekend, I hope it was wondrous and filled with cheer!
.. And less stressful and tiring than mine. XD
At the risk of being cornered by sharpened Candy Canes and buried alive under Snowflakes, I want to let you know that the Seasonal Shop is not quite ready, but it'll be open as soon as possible and be welcoming guests for a full week once it does. Things have been a bit of a bumpy sleigh ride behind the scenes, but our big Christmas bang is still to come!
Let me get a couple of updates out of the way so that we can focus on the goodies when they're ready!
The Art Gallery has been judged!
Last week's theme was Gift Giving and we had plenty of positively adorable entries, but these six ultimately stole the gift-giving heart!

We'll also be adding more themes soon so that you can brainstorm your future entries.
If there's a specific focus, medium, etc. that you would like to see featured by the Art Gallery, feel free to toss out some ideas! :3
Eggnogs
(I'm talking about the Delicious Eggnogs here, not the non-alcoholic ones. *wink*)
Do not be fooled by its delicious-looking spiced sprinkles or its sweet, dainty glass--this drink is a sneaky trickster!
.. or was just way too comfy in the old items from last year.
Eggnogs were not supposed to be re-released this year per Frey's request, but the items weren't updated as they should have been, so I'm going to guide you through this little coding snafu while we fix things up. We'll make it, I promise!
If you received an Eggnog from a stocking or the Pile of Gifts and did not use it, you can send it to me in exchange for 5 GP.
(Everyone who sent me one up to this point should have received a PM along with their GP refund by now.)
If you used your Eggnog for a breeding, please contact Kyu (1010), who is a love and will be taking care of refunding you. Successful breedings get automatically refunded by her. If you had a failed breeding, talk to Kyu and she'll see what she can do.
Stockings and the Pile of Gifts are NOT updated yet, so if you have any of these items, please hang onto them until I make an announcement saying you've got the green light to tear into them once more.
Note: I'm only asking you not to use them because the eggnogs are still inside. Slash said the other items are fine.
Eggnog is going to be replaced with a special potion that will also be stocking in the Cash Shop for 5 GP, so everything should even out. :3
The Holiday Wardrobe is not quite usable yet, but will be soon!
We'll make an announcement for you when you can try on all the new festive clothing.
My goal is to have everything completed and working asap so I can put everything in a huge announcement with the seasonal shop, but we'll play it by ear!
I appreciate your understanding and apologize for being unable to update you guys sooner.
Christmas may be over, but AyMas is just beginning!
