Chitchat!

Site Update

Goto News Post

weapon_lightningbolt.png

Aywas has added a few new subforums!

First up is the To-Do List, which is under Suggestions.

This is a place for us to move suggestions that have been accepted but not yet implemented (Accepted Suggestions is used for implemented/complete ideas that were accepted). As we utilize this area, you will be able to see which ideas are slated for implementation so that you know what's coming up and won't make duplicate threads, etc. It'll help us be more transparent in what we're working on and what our goals are for the site. :3

We have also added a Think Tank area under Aywas Talk.

Prior to the Think Tank, we got a lot of our feedback through news comments, messages, and places like Aywas Talk and Suggestions. While these are great ways to communicate and all still serve a function, I felt like something was missing, and the Think Tank is the answer to that! Basically, this is a centralized location for staff to create all sorts of threads in with the goal of getting your feedback.

Moving forward, we will utilize this area for staff-sponsored projects (like Mauri's FAQ project, which has been moved there) and things like asking for Art Gallery themes. Before, you could make a Suggestion thread for an art gallery theme idea, but these ideas might not gain a lot of traction since it's something so specific, and if I'm looking to add 5 themes at a time, I might have to go through 20 pages of suggestions or news posts to find enough.

Both areas are pretty bare right now, but you'll see them filling up soon.

I hope you appreciate these new additions and am especially looking forward to seeing your ideas in the Think Tank!

Prize: Blue Antiquity Stave

Congratulations!

*Please note that we have made an adjustment to judging for the Story Game moving forward.*
In order for a winner to be selected, there must be a minimum of five entries. If there's not five in one week, judging will roll over to the next week.

Art Gallery

game_gallery.png

The art gallery has been judged!
The theme was Ara Backgrounds, where artists were tasked with the challenge of creating background landscapes for the Seaside, Grasslands, and Wasteland. You guys did a phenomenal job and I was excited to see a lot of styles and interpretations of our Adventure areas handled so well.

We try to incorporate user work as much as possible and I'm glad we could extend it to site backgrounds. :3
So, without further ado, here are our winners!

They won:

Congratulations!
I will be contacting each of you for a day/night version of your image (opposite of whatever you submitted).

A news post will be made when the new themes are implemented and when the additional ones are available.
I will also be making a post regarding fixes for themes that exploded after the downtime, so keep an eye out!

Next week's theme is: Karaoke
This can be done in any medium and of course must be Aywas related. Feel free to get creative!
Good luck!

Art Gallery Reminder

Contests

Goto News Post

Don't forget to submit your Art Gallery entries today!

Remember, this contest is for a shot at having your artwork featured as an official Adventure background, but we can't do it if we don't have enough entries. I know we've got a lot of talented landscape artists out there, so show us your stuff! Plus, the prize will be pretty nice, and it's a starred theme. :3

Check out the original post here for more details.

Good luck!

New Museum Collections

Site Update

Goto News Post

I interrupt the soul hunting to bring you two quick Museum Collection updates!

explore_wishingdandelions.pngexplore_bottledpotpourri.pngexplore_sandcastle.pngexplore_beachglass.png

We have opened collections for the Seaside and Grasslands.

weapon_starfishshield.png
If you complete the Seaside collection, you will be rewarded with a Starfish Shield.
It has a 20% toughness bonus as well as a 20% resistance to both burn and water. Should come in handy!

explore_pinwheel.png
Completing the Grasslands collection will yield a Pinwheel.
This is an equippable item that increases the chance that a wild pet will come home with you after playing with your explorer! It does not break.

I hear these items even work on the likes of hounds...

Enjoy! :3

Apocalypse Hound Event

Site Update

Goto News Post

24888770.jpg

Apocalypse Hounds... unnatural beasts once used as familiars for practitioners of dark magic. Long ago they were few in number, but now they are numerous. Acting without masters, they are uncontrollable beasts, ransacking whatever they come across.

It wasn't always like this... one used to be able to wander at night without fear of being devoured by these beasts. It happened long ago...

It all began when a nameless Insi was killed in an alley downtown. When detectives Putman and Lester studied the scene, they found the victim mostly intact; the only things missing were the ID in his wallet, and his liver.

47779953.jpg

"What do you think did this?" Lester said, bewildered.

Putman thought for a moment. "Black market organ dealers," he said firmly.

"But... in our little town? I've been on duty for years, and I've never seen anything like it..."

"Our town may be quiet, but that doesn't mean nothing happens, Lester. The Jacks could've done it."

Lester looked up, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "Wait, what? Have you flipped your lid? The Jacks are just a bunch of messed up kids! They're petty criminals, not murderers."

"Crime starts small. We've let them go free too long." Putman muttered, fumbling in his coat pocket for his lighter. "We let them get comfortable, Lester, and now they've killed a man. We have to stop them."

32434133.jpg

Over the course of the next fourteen days, hell broke loose---the victim they found was only the first of many. Soon, all over town, people of all species and status were found without livers. And as more died, the town became crawling with violent, monsterous doglike beasts. The police could not keep the case quiet under these circumstances, and soon everyone knew of the liver theft and the horrid monsters that followed.

Some citizens declared it the end times and came to idolize the beasts. In secret, they would meet nightly and discuss things to come. Others rose up, volunteering to aid the law and catch the perpetrators of these horrid killings.

apolunaris.png

Which will you join?
And what happens next? Only time will tell...
Until then, be careful walking the streets of downtown.

Adopt a Custom!

New Feature

Goto News Post

Wow! You guys really impressed me with your response on the custom donation thread. We have enough customs stocked up to kickstart the new feature (and still accepting more), which is Adopt a Custom!

The old Pet Calendar was converted into this feature. Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday a custom will show up on the calendar. If you'd like to adopt the custom, you create a pet page application (basically, give it a character/personality/etc!) for it on the pet you'd want the custom overlayed on. The custom's new owner is chosen a week after!

There are five customs up for adoption right now since the feature's new. Each custom has a one week application period. I've been hoping to expand features on the site for users who like working with characters and writing, so hopefully you enjoy this!

We've been working hard to eliminate coding issues with pet pages and profiles, so be sure to check those out and as always, post in the Bugs section if you encounter any issues. It's hard balancing keeping bad coding off the site with making sure everyone can be creative, but we're making lots of progress.

I'm also looking for someone to moderate this feature with me and help select winners, so if you'd like to possibly apply, please send me a PM.
