It was only recently that the Ay scientists along the West River upgraded their echolocation equipment, as aid from the Museum had become slim. Project funds to research the native gael and chromo of the river had declined over the past year or so.
No one expected that the newly enhanced equipment would pick up unusual ultrasonar readings that seemed to show an amorphous draconic creature moving through the water. Underwater cameras managed to snapshot what seemed to be an eye, a limb, and some spikes, but the rest of the body appeared... simply melded into the water.
Shen
Rarity: Ay Uncommon
"The Shen genus is made up of extremely talented liquid shapeshifters. They can mimic any other pet by first transforming into their base liquid form then shifting themselves into the other pet. Old Ay folklore states that Shen would sometimes shapeshift into humans and lure townspeople toward the rivers to drown them, though no reports have ever substantiated this claim. Shen are near impossible to capture and train due to their ability to simply melt into the water and escape."
Technology advancements have allowed the Ay people to discover a new uncommon genus, the Shen! Like all other Ay uncommons, Shen can be made through Flame Custom Crystals or Nova Custom Crystals.
Would you care to help scientists discover different Shen species?
(From now until May 29th, accepted metal coloration submissions to the Shen submissions thread linked above will be rewarded with a Flame Custom Crystal. After that point, submissions will be treated as any uncommon genus and accepted sparingly.)

Thanks to LesLarmes (#18839) and the help of a Slashbot, a whole new world of glee has opened up for us to see!

Your task is simple: collect Heart Rock Candy (r30)!
... and see how long you can resist cracking a smile while exploring in this limited-time Adventure area.
(I lost this battle while uploading pets, so you'll at least do better than me. XD)
While making your merry way around this colorful world, you will run into plenty of cute, edible, silly pets to take home with you!
And equally adorable collectables!
My word, even the "monsters" are precious!
You will have a week to run around in Rainbow Sky to your heart's content. The area will close after 11:59 p.m. on May 29th. The Candy Shop (Seasonal Shop) will be set up as an exchange shop, where you can turn in your Heart Rock Candy for some special goodies! :3
Please note that we'll be keeping an eye on numbers/rarities and tweak things if necessary.

This just in! Six little penguins have gone missing in the blizzard... can you help find them? Not even weather-friendly fauna are immune to the effects of such a harsh cold, and these little ones have been scattered far from their home!

Apocalypse Hound Event Part 6

Lester reeled from pain and shock. He wanted to ask why all this was happening, but between the bullet hole in his abdomen and the knife being brandished at him by his coworker, he was at a loss for words.
"If you do a damn thing, your liver is next." Putman growled at him.
The caretaker crossed her arms. "Leave the kid, dear, we have more important things to attend to."
Putman turned around. "Of course... are you alright, my lady?" Putman asked softly, barely audible over Lester's pained gasps.
"I am. Thank you, dear." the caretaker replied.
They gazed at each other for a time before she gave him a small kiss.
Lester could hardly process what was happening at this point. It was surreal and dreamlike, watching his partner kiss the Mother Hound in a dank room of decomposing livers. His fingers twitched as he drew them away from the bleeding wound and moved them towards the gun he had dropped, only for the caretaker's heeled shoe to painfully come down on his hand.
"Mind your hands, boy, or you might lose them." she said, digging her heel into his palm as she bent over and took the gun from Lester's reach. As she took the gun into her hands, the metal withered away at her touch, as if rotting, until it was nothing but dust in her fingers.
"Prime," she said, turning her head towards Putman. "It is almost time. I have to hurry and make the preperations. I have two of brothers and sisters coming to make sure you get the job done." She spun on her heel and headed out the door.
"Wait---Magdelena, what do you mean? Do you not trust me to get the job done?" Putman replied, sounding strained.
The caretaker gave a forced smile. "I trust you, dear... but I can't take any chances this late in the game. I'm sure you understand." Lester felt the weight lift from his bruised hand as Magdelena picked up her heel and headed out the door, leaving him and Putman alone with the livers.
Putman advanced towards Lester, knife in hand.
"But... why...?" Lester wheezed, shakily propping himself up. "Why are you doing this?"
"Because," Putman replied coldly, "she is the mother of my children."

Something useful in the snow...!

Sheldon here yet again with another update on the weather situation... it seems the snow has halted enough for residents to attempt to venture outside to assess the damage. Some towns are snowed in completely, while it appears that others have taken to a more positive look at the weather. One local has come up with an idea to host a large-scale snowball fight! How grand, if you like the cold that is...
There seems to be promise of prizes as well for those with the deftest hands and most clever tactics... this reporter has the rules below!

We are about a thousand users away from a massive landmark -- 50,000 user accounts onsite! This calls for great celebrations -- including the 50,000 Prizebox Field! But… but wait… we must hit 50,000 before the prize field unlocks ;)
The Prizebox Field will be fifty thousand boxes with prizes inside. Users will be able to grab a box every twelve hours until they're all gone. The smallest prize is 50,000 BP and a useful item, so it'll definitely be worth your time to snatch items from it-- and the biggest prizes, well, I'm sure you can imagine.
50,000 Users Referral Contest
Between now and the acceptance of our 50,000th user, the people who refer the most players will receive the following prizes:

$250 USD (or 300 GP)

This is your local reporter Sheldon with an eye on Ay's evening weather! A-ah-choo! Excuse me folks--! As you can see out in the field here it's completely frozen over, with temperatures plunging below freezing already. We expect --sniffle-- for heavier snow to fall in all Ay regions overnight, and total snowfall may reach several feet in low-lying areas. Bundle up, Aywas! It's going to be a cold one!
This developing storm system is forecasted to last for the next week, so we'll be sure to keep you all updated. Stock up on those blankets and be sure not to go outside, you don't want to get lost adventuring out in the wilderness!
Beware of any particularly hard hail or ice falling from the sky-- ow! -- including some odd coins that residents are already stockpiling for some reason. Strange weather causes strange behavior it seems!
Stay tuned for more information during the week on the blizzard, there might be more to come in this storm!
