After a long silence...

Site Update

Aywas is back!
So, here's the adventure.

At 12:30 AM we requested a new hard drive - as we were told that Aywas would speed up if we put our MYSQL database on a solid state secondary drive. The drive was installed by 1:00 AM, all looked good, until I turned the site back on and logged in.

Our data had been rolled back to October 2010. O__o

So, yeah, suffice to say that was unacceptable. Around 1:30 AM I requested that our hourly backups be extracted and the most recent database before the downtime be used. From 1:30 AM until now, 9:00 AM... the backups kept failing. And failing. :|

Only about ten minutes ago did a backup FINALLY WORK! And now we have Aywas back, just as it was when we left it - and hopefully faster!

Please tell me if you see a speed increase. That was the point of all this work!

As you so kindly waited along with me in our eight hours of downtime, feel free to request a free common species custom here by submitting a custom image.

It's great to be back!

Forums and news were always slower to load, the images always lag (so I increased my cache to 200mb, and not as slow)

The lag in explore is mainly when loading the battle page...

It still seems a little faster to me now..... 380 users online... try increasing your cache and closing and reopening firefox (firefox - especially if you open lots of tabs or have a few plugins- tends to start hogging memory and lagging) After opening 1/2 the shops and my lair, exploring and playing bones, reading news and a few forum posts, my 200mb cache is 148mb full from all the images on the site - but pages load a lot faster when cached

at 347 users on google chrome.....slowslowslow :\ it isnt my cache or my internet. I think aywas is more in need of an extra server comp.

It used to be a lot faster but now for me (maybe just my comp) it appears a lot slower :[

It took me ~5 seconds to load my inventory by 265 users online. I got a download rate about 16.000 mbit/s

I would say it's not faster ( at least for me). I even stopped cookng because it takes a lot of time now.
