Contests

And the results are in!

First up is the Holiday Wishlist Contest results.

You guys made judging this so incredibly difficult because all of the entries were an absolute blast to read. Some made me laugh, others were truly touching, and a few even made me cringe at my screen. Even though the requirements were pretty bare bones, a lot of people went over the top and added pictures, made graphic lists or wrote in a dialect, so I really appreciated those little twists. Thank you very much to everyone who entered! I hope you guys enjoyed this one. :3

Without further ado, here are our winners!

Grand Prize Winner - TheApostleJudas (#10345)
Wishlist

I really got a character feel from this itinerary and am anxious to see this Xaoc come to life! The wishes seemed raw, varied and personal, creating a very telling list--exactly what I was looking for.

Highlights:
2. A high silk hat, because I'm just debonair like that.
12. A visit from my good friend Mary Jane. Mehehehe.
17. For the word 'smarticles' to be added to the dictionary.

Second Place - Maple F. (#5783)
Wishlist

I loved how succinctly this piece was put together. Though it reads like poetry, the writing does not detract from the core of the list, but actually enhances it; there's a lot of insight packed into each word.

Highlights:
10) To hear a kind word, instead of: "flee-bitten cur".
13) A friend by my side, to hold back the madness.
14) And another friend, too, to fight off the sadness.

Third Place - CaptainLunchbox (#2021)
Wishlist

This list immediately seemed otherworldly to me for some reason and kept me intrigued to the end!

Highlights:
1. Blueprints of a revolutionary aircraft.
8. Slugs of all colors. Especially bright blue ones. Those are really lovely.
9. A Dachshund named Sloushy.

Fourth Place - Rocket Jayy (#4224)
Wishlist

Another one dripping with character, but even more so with emotion. For some reason, this was one of the most memorable lists!

Highlights:
3. A dollie with dark hair. I've heard these were beautiful.
5. Vine wallpaper. Literally, vines streaming up my walls with all the prickly thorns exposed!
14. A membership to the nearby theatre. I've always wished to attend the plays there.

Fifth Place - Araxa (#1117)
Wishlist

I could easily picture this Xaoc's entire world and was completely drawn in!

Highlights:
4. A magical bird that can speak for me because I am so veryvery shy.
5. A set of stag antlers that I can wear on my head (only if the stag if finished with them, though).
12. Some pots of lotions and ointments for when my woodland friends get injured.

Congratulations! If you haven't had a chance to read through all the entries, I encourage you to do so when you've got a couple spare moments because they really are phenomenal!

Normally we only have one Xaoc contest every three months, but for the holidays we added a Bonus Art Contest with a holiday spirit theme. I had so much fun looking over these and was really happy to see so many clever takes on the prompt!

Here are the winners for the art contest:

Grand Prize Winner - Nao [ouo] (#285)
Peasant Boy Xaoc dressed for the holiday season.
My take on Holiday spirit where everyone comes around to celebrate Christmas regardless of social status.

Nao had several adorable entries but there was something poignant about this guy. Not only is he done beautifully, but the concept behind him is the kind of holiday spirit that I think we could all do with more of.

Second Place - God (#4)
Ghost of Christmas Xaoc

A literal snowy spirit! The smooth edits and subtle coloring really made this one stand out.

Third Place - Reese n Dani (#964)
Mecha Christmas Angel

I really enjoyed the idea behind this one and love the glowing accents!

Fourth Place - FruityToaster (#10986)
Reindeer Xaoc

One of the most notable animal spirits of the holiday season. I absolutely love the snout and texturing!

Fifth Place - Ellie-TEAM AWESOME (#804)

This Xaoc is definitely sporting some holiday spirit with its candycane garb! Bravo on the coloring and getting things to shine just right.
