After a long day and night of debating minuscule changes (but hey, it made it look better), we finally came to a decision regarding the melo. It's going into a revamp, and we've fixed things as much as we could to make as many people happy as possible while still retaining sensibility to our style.
Submit new Melo Colorations!
If you are unhappy with the melo's new lines, you should be pleased to know that we are coming out with another set of crystals that will let you submit old lineart pets directly without having to make them as new lineart pets first.
Thanks for sharing all your opinions, comments, and fixes, and we hope you can enjoy the new melo. We will let you know when the revamp is complete (when all site colors have been revamped). Until then, feel free to submit old lineart melos as you desire.
There's an Ay feline pet coming soon too... look forward to it!

I really want this whole mess to be over.
My two cents:
The neck is thick enough to portray a masculine character, but not too thick that a female character would seem out of place on the base. The inner ear fur has an actual direction, the tail is no longer a chunk of bizarre anal fluff, and, despite the boxiness, it's a lot more proportionate than the old melo lines were. I, personally, don't find it biased in feline vs. canine. There are clear places I can add edits, and the shoulders are no longer jutting from the back of the neck; which had been a large complaint of mine regarding the old lines. The size of the head is perfect. I do see a few moderate issues with the size of the muzzle compared to the rest of the body, but I find it distinctly feline on a canine head. There's no working around that, beyond what everyone developed on that thread, if you want the melo to represent both species. All in all, it looks great.

I still don't like it. Even if it's supposed to be an updated version of the melo, the only thing they have in common seems to be a similar pose and hair forelock. This one is fluffier, fatter, has a flatter face, and non-pointed ears.

Nose is a bit fat at the bottom...if it was as pointed as the bigger nose, but that size, I might prefer.

The thread's been there the whole time, open to comments and input and whatever else. I don't think the News post asking if we can accept this art is the right place to start throwing around even more improvements or criticisms or whatever. There's been ample opportunity to have our say.
This Melo is what Slash is proposing. You like it, or you don't, but everyone's had their chance over the last, eff, four days or however long it's been to make their opinions heard, and this newest incarnation is no exception.
Let's all just type "Yea" or "Nay" and get it done with, yeah?
