Site Update
Good evening! We have some news today for the site as a whole and for the Winterheart Gala, so please make sure to read the full post!
It has been no secret that Aywas wants to do a recode - the site needs the facelift and even more so we need to fix a lot of dead end systems and refresh a lot of things on the back end. Normally when sites do this, they fully close down for a few months and then reopen. We have decided we will take a different approach - hibernation.
Over the span of the next few months, we will be making several changes to the way the site works. Not everything will happen at once, but this is our plan should the recode take longer than expected:
- No more USD contracts; breeding artists who are pre-paid can finish their currently pre-pay and then will either have to swap payment options or resign. GCC/MDT/SCC that are currently USD will be able to finish their current ticket then will be removed, and they will be contacted individually within the next few weeks. This also includes USD pay for shop submissions.
- Slashbot will continue as normal as this time.
- BP/GP shop pets will now be swapped to being every other month and will not be available for direct sale. They will only be available through the monthly potion, which will be available in both the GP & BP shops.
- Jeweleds & RCC will be swapped to every other month for the time being. So the current Jeweleds and Current RCC will be for February and for March!
- Custom makers will be removed from GP/BP/PP shops and manually restocked depending on the current need based on what is in user inventories/for sale. (This one can be confusing - they are not being permanently removed, they are just going to rotate in and out of the shop as needed to try to spark trade. At the time of the last search, staff found many available for less than shop price and we want to encourage everyone to buy those. This will begin next weekend.
- Breeding coins will remain limited stock as the queues allow.
- Mayday: Artists who choose USD as their primary payment for a set must also choose a secondary option; if they sell 1 design from their set on day 1 or 2, they will receive their primary USD payment. If not, they get their secondary option.
- Suggestions forum will be locked until we are done with the revamp as all suggestions are for the current site and the way this site is built. Once the site is recoded, we will reopen them and look forward to new ideas and feedback, but in the meantime we would like to focus on the recode as the start to a new future for Aywas.
- All pre-planned events will continue as normal, as will our traditional holiday events.
The reason for this is so that we can reallocate all of our resources to focus entirely on the recode. We will be doing a lot of back end work, so there isn't going to be a lot of front end updates. We will attempt to keep everyone posted on how it is going, but we are not going to give an exact time frame - especially with the way the world is lately. We know that this is a lot to take in and may result in some significant changes, but we want to keep the site running while we work on the back end instead of going down fully for an extended amount of time. The Seasonal Shop for the Winterheart Gala is now open!
There are a variety of pets to choose from, as well as items, clothing, and some lovely custom makers! The Tokens of Affection can be used to make a Haatochu, for anyone who may be new to these little trinkets.
We will also have three new lines coming to the Love Potion #9. There will be a news post once they are ready for release, but if you like the Soluss, Crystelid, or Paleo, it may be worth it to nab one, two, or three! If you'd like to see the other lines that you can create with this item, you can check out the Knowledge Base article!
If you don't have enough points to purchase everything that you would like, don't fret! The Seasonal Shop will be open until 11:59 PM AST on March 1st. This will give you one extra day after the Love Letters will stop dropping so that you can use any last minute points you may receive.
Have fun continuing to spread the love, and try not to receive any paper cuts by flinging letters around!

Question, does the USD change apply to PBC? Like some items attached to those breedings give the artist USD. How would that work now?

Is the drop rate for Love Letters being improved? I've barely got any this year because no matter where I go, they're so hard to get in Adventure, and the Shop is always out of stock of them!

Slowing the shop pets and RCC pets etc seems a good decision, I can't keep up with all the species and genus as it is and it gives more time to finosh designs, I like that! Let's hope for a smooth transition !

I don't get this part:

Does that mean the shops will close down entirely and will be unavailable? Does that mean that no more pets for those shops will be accepted? :o

“ No more USD contracts“ this section here in a bit confused about. Does this apply to add-ons, like Tickets and Paintbrushes? I do like using items to send bonuses to artists, when I can. Will the GCC/MDT/SCC feature still be open? I assume the commission panel will still function as USD, cause it’s not contract right?
Pardon the probably dumb questions, just want to be clear! Also thank you for keeping the site open during the translation; hope all this goes smoothly. Also excited for this new LP lines (Soluss!!)!

Artist tickets are exempt from the USD change, so you can still give your artist a USD bonus if you attach one :) Paintbrushes are... complicated, haha. They don't get cashed in very often, but they will still pay out USD as well! You'll need to message Kaiyo if you want to cash in a bunch at once, and they won't pay out immediately.
The GCC/MDT/SCC panels will still be open, but the artists on those panels will be paid in GP or artist credit rather than USD! If they had a USD-paying ticket they were working on when the announcement was made, that ticket will still pay USD, but any claimed tickets after that will pay site currency.

The shops will still be open! The shop pets that normally stock in those shops once a month will not be released in the shop itself, but will be exclusive to the monthly potions. The hope is to encourage inter-user trading ^^ The potions will change out every other month with a new batch of pets!

I usually bought pets from the shop itself and depleted BP on site this way - or so I thought. Wouldn't that make BP inflate again? Since there were several for sale usually and there will be only one potion for sale for certain fixed price, unless we buy multiples

I'm really not liking that, specifically the potion part. :/ I'm someone who likes to stay to myself and not really talk to others, just collecting pets and items that I like. Putting a whole random aspect to shop pets is going to be really annoying for me since I usually only like a few, and then if I don't get what I want I either have to hope someone is looking to trade the one I want for the one I have in user trades or just keep wasting money on potions, both of which are really annoying solutions.
Might just stay away from BP/GP pets entirely if that truly gets implemented. I really hope nothing like this happens to the Exotic Pet Palace, there tends to be more pets I like in there than any other place.
