Dear Aywas,
A small town zoo and rescue needs our help!
This place is called The Little Ponderosa Zoo, and it is located in Clinton, Tennessee. They started out as a zoo, but quickly after opening their doors they were flooded by requests from people asking to drop off their exotic pets. So they soon became a zoo and rescue. They are located in my very small town, but the impact they have is country-wide. They have taken in animals from all over the states, from monkeys to foxes to camels to kangaroos. They even have a couple tigers they took in from an animal sanctuary that couldn't keep them permanently. The Little Ponderosa Zoo has been a household name in our little town for years.
On December 4th, an electrical fire burned down the main barn on the property. Employees and fire fighters suffered from burns trying to save as many animals as they could. But unfortunately, they still lost almost 50 animals, including several primates, small cats, foxes, birds, reptiles, and more. But in addition to the loss of life, the barn also held all of their feed and feeding containers. They are desperately reaching out to the community for donations, both monetary and items.
I have been completely heartbroken over this, along with everyone in my community. And I know that this is the sort of thing that Aywas users would want to know about, and would want to help out with. I would love to see my amazing virtual community reach out to this very deserving staple of my offline community. Aywas users have done so much good, and I know they can do that again.
No matter what you can give, be it money, items, thoughts, prayers, or spreading awareness, everything is appreciated!

I run a non profit reptile rescue, and know the devastation the loss of even one pet causes. If it's ok, I'll share this to a couple of Facebook groups I belong to, just to see if we can get some support from out west...

i am in tears, bawling over barely even halfway into this message
as an extreme animal lover this hurts me to my very core, an i have
sent what little fundings i could. Thank you for sharing, please keep
us updated and everyone should know those animals have crossed
the rainbow bridge an are in a better place now (shame how it happened)

absolutely tragic, terrible to hear about so many animals lost :c more might die, too, with the collateral damage of loss of feed and supplies, but hopefully they gather enough donations to prevent any more loss of life...

Wow. That's painful. Reading the list of animals is heart-wrenching.
I can't donate, I have no monetary means to spare and animals of my own to tend to.
It really looks like the community around there is banding together for them, though, so it's also kind of heartwarming in a very bittersweet manner.
I should be slightly more financially stable in a couple months, and then I might donate to sponsor alpacas, my mother loves alpacas and would probably like a little monthly update like that.

This is absolutely devastating, and I'm contributing what I can, though little. I couldn't read which animals were lost; it's so heartbreaking.
I have hope they'll get the help they need, but god, things like this don't deserve to happen.
