Good afternoon folks. Staff has been watching all of the conversations regarding the latest event and how there are some mixed feelings about it.
A lot of work goes into prepping these events, and this year there were actually only about 3 glitches. However, because some things did not work in the way that some users thought they should be, they were declared a "glitch" without actually being one. While staff was quite happy with the way the event played out, there was an overwhelming amount of negativity, as there has been with all of the events that we have done recently.
When I took over, one of the main things I wanted to do was to make events exciting again! From all of the feedback I picked up before I became community manager, one of the most recurring issues was that users had been sick of just simple "grind, collect and buy" events. So we have been working extremely hard to come up with storylines, new exciting features for the events, game boards, etc.
Part of this change however, involves the community working together as a community. There are larger puzzles that need solved and different activities that need to be done as groups. We are always watching the threads that you guys make to try to figure out what is going on, and reading them fills us with such joy! Seeing everyone putting aside their differences in order to enjoy the event, to push forward and figure everything out, it's awesome.
However... with each event, the negativity is getting louder and louder, and it bears down on us so hard. We spend more than a month prepping for each large event, working on it despite our RL schedules while still balancing our Aywas work, and it is crushing to be told that the work we spent on these was worthless.
So now I am bringing it to you, the users of Aywas, the ones who get to enjoy the events... do you want us to continue putting in the work for these large scale events? Do you want us to continue having storylines, challenges, competitions?
Or do you want us to return to how it was, just a simple adventure area with your currency where you grind it out and then just buy what you want from the shop? Should we even have event currency any more or just allow you to grind out BP and buy things that way?
