Oh dear, it seems things went awry with the free food game for a moment - I tried to give you the food but it didn't leave with you!

The game was reset and works smoothly now, so if you've played already today just pop back quickly and see if you were affected. If you were, just talk to me again and everything will be right as rain!

It seems I'm on the fritz today - you're not supposed to get a plushie of me until day 31. It seems the new timer on that wasn't set, but never mind, dears! I hope you enjoy the early and unexpected release.



If you come and see me, there's a chance you might get a plushie of yours truly! Give it a zap!



Did someone say plushies?! I have the most adorable plushies of myself and Minerva! If you're lucky maybe I'll give you one or the other too - just don't tell Minerva, she thinks it's silly.

New layout is ugly and confusing. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Why not use the time to fix broken things instead of aesthetically "improve" the site for no reason at all?

Treeborn Frog (#55178) but it was broken. They had to remove all the artwork from the site that had to old site characters, and it would look really tacky to have half new art work and half old on the games page. It wasn't just changed to "aesthetically improve" the site.

Personally I don't see how it's confusing. The icons are laid out in relatively the same order as the old ones were, some are just re-named because they needed to be with the mandatory removal of the old site characters.

New icons also take up less and different resources than fixing broken things. Icon changes are significantly quicker than big code changes, and would be easily swapped out - which could be done by one person, while other people work on coding big fixes. Sites can work on multiple things at once. :P

Treeborn Frog (#55178) - Not only as Tae (#66637) pointed out, there are a few other reasons for the change:

- We no longer have the original source file of the old icons. The old icons themselves where done by myself hasty to have the game page not look as dull as the old store page did (just a bunch of text links pointing to games).

- They were designed to help our blind users navigate easier. Before, the game's title were embedded into the image itself. Now they are text links along side with the icons

- They were also designed to help with the transition of the new layout (https://i.imgur.com/JvkCK9O.jpg). There is about 1.3k files that need to be updated to work with the new layout. If, when working with a view file, I can get the chance to knock it out, I am going to do it.

The layout of the page itself may change in the future -- may become more compact. If you or anyone else is interested in redesigning the page to make it both more esthetic and functional, feel free to whip up a draft and submit to a staff member. Aywas has always been very open when it comes to community interventions.

I think it's a nice facelift but I think the reason the page is percieved as a bit "messy" is that the text links (or rather the yellow buttons behind them) are all different lengths. If they were all made the same size the page would probably look much more "ordered".

You could possibly try having a max of 5 icons in a row and/or increase the distance between different game sections - it's almost the same as for rows within the sections - just to make things "neater", but I think it's the button sizes that give the most "jumbled" impression.

Aaaand I suspect it's also largely about getting used to a new look :)
