Happy New Years everyone! I know that you were waiting for the monthly but unfortunately it will be delayed :( Our Shops are having trouble and for some reason adding an item has a chance to make a totally unrelated item say it costs 0 bp/gp, however it still charges you the proper amount. This item then becomes completely uneditable, and due to the holiday we haven't had proper time to fix this.
Of course this is also effecting the HA Contest, as many may have seen the items are already created but until we get the go ahead we don't want to risk poking the shop.
I know, many of you are probably asking why don't I just swap around the release days? Well I was originally going to do that, but that would make the Jeweled Custom Makers have 1 less day for their submission and I won't do that to those trying to finish last minute submissions.
I do however have the newest Rock Custom Crystal for you!
This whale is happy to swim into the new year with you!
We also have a fun new update about the Genetics Kit and Hybrid Genetics Kit! Now when you use a Genetics Kit you may request which lines you use as long as the lines do not have a dedicated custom maker, so this includes many common alts and all old lines. However, this is up to Artist's Discretion. The artist is not required to use your request and may proceed with the normal lines if they desire.
We also would like to take this chance to remind everyone that artist breedings are not commissions! We have received an influx of very detailed prompts on breedings, with and without addons which allow prompts, that include requests such as color placements and edit uses. Artists do not have to follow these, and we encourage them to only do what they are comfortable with in these situations! So please be aware of this rule, and that artist's can ignore these if they desire and it will not be counted as a breeding mistake.

I sadly can't change my breeding until tomorrow or the day after because I don't have access to computer and this phone isn't done for some parts of the site. Hope it can wait a little?

DrunkConquistador (#64472) I think with the unstable kit, where it is random, it would not be allowed to ask for what line art because there's no way to know... if you are doing predicts and you get the genus rolled then you could ask the predict artist, but as a regular breeding I do not think you would be able to.

Yes, I'm aware that that's what a previous News post said; we were just asking if it would be DELAYED due to technical difficulties with the Shops. True, they may not be related, but it couldn't hurt to ask. Also, the original News post also said, "...we will go into more details about how the voting will work and what it could mean for future contests (lookin at you HA contest) closer to that date!" Well, today IS that date and we have yet to receive those details, possibly because it was to be part of the Monthly News, which IS delayed...
Insofar as breeding alt lines, might it be an option, then, to request alt lines and also say, "Default shading is fine", so there will NOT be more work for the artist? ... I'm asking on others' behalf, as I can only ever afford Derp and RBC coins, neither of which have that option.

Snuggle ToT (#5560) As was mentioned, many of us on BC and similar coins do our own shading to stylize our babies and make them more unique. Because Artist Tickets provide a pay boost, there's a financial incentive for artists to not just use the default shading as well; the better your babies are, the more likely people are to ticket you.
As for the suggestion of requesting people just use the default shading anyway, that wouldn't work for everyone both due to what I've mentioned above, and because you still have to shade the new edits you make yourself. If your own shading isn't like the site's, it can end up being more work to try to make things not look mismatched.

DrunkConquistador (#64472) Unstable Kits are randomized, so it doesn't really work with that. The snoodle can be requested as its alts are allowed to be submitted to the box. This does work for Genus in a Bottle.
It is optional because as a few others stated it does make more work for the artists, as it is more bases to reshade. I know that several artists don't mind, but there is several who still do, and we don't wish to add more to their workload unless they wish to accept this extra work for themselves. If a user *really* wants alt lines, they are always welcome to commission predictions, as the alt lines were not permitted before this we are not really concerned with anyone being completely set on getting alt lines. This is just a small bonus that may be granted is all. You are also welcome to use Artist tickets for Artists that you know are comfortable doing the alts.

Last year, I remember there was a New Year's Eve/Day double premium event that seemed like it was an annual event. Is this going to happen this year?
