Chapter 1
A loud rumble sounded in the darkness, it's echoing cascade of drums reverberating around the room until it was almost deafening. A wizened hand reaches out and turns on the lamp, glowing red eyes squinting in the harsh light as the skeletal body sat up.
I hunger.
It wasn't very long ago that the people of Ay and Ara had plied the Unus shifter with food, collecting and sacrificing candy in the hopes of satiating the mighty appetite of Aketch for another year.
But they had failed.
As the rumbling grew louder it thundered out from his abode and clattered across the growing clouds, thick, heavy, and dark with his hunger and rage. It was winter - there were no berries in the trees, or thick luscious grasses to devour meadow after meadow. The world was barren and his stomach could feel the emptiness.
Yet... there was something he could sense. Something he hadn't noticed before.
Something... delicious.
Knobbled fingers clutched at his walking stick as Aketch dragged himself from his bed, the last of his strength used to fling open the drapes and glare at the outside world.
So... white. So pure.
He sneered as he nudged the window open, nostrils flaring as his suspicions were confirmed - there was something out there!
Revitalised with the promise of food, Aketch made a wobbly but determined march to the door, a shawl quickly thrown around his shoulders to shield him from the cold as he gazed out in wonder. His nostrils flared again as the scent grew stronger.
I hunger... and there is food.
Walking stick and shawl were thrown aside as he transformed back to his Unus form, rearing up on his hind legs with a cry that the residents knew all too well. Blind to everything else he raced after the scent, hooves clattering on the stone and frozen ground until he came to a sudden halt.
Drool ran down his chin as Aketch set eyes on the Holiday Lane - candy canes, gingerbread, gumdrops! Even the snow itself tasted sweet enough to eat! Oh, he would feast - and he would feast well.

"We have to stop him! He's eaten half of the lane, the residents are terrified and Aymas is ruined!"
Ambriel watched the Gingerbread King as he paced up and down his living room, tail twitching with a faint sense of amusement. "What am I meant to do to help you, old friend? Only feeding that creature settles it's stomach to hibernate another year, and unless he's eating the citizens-"
"He ate three just this morning! The poor muffin man... he was only visiting, Ambriel! A visitor! Eaten!"
The Kyre shifter gave a frown, that changed everything. "Alright. I will see what I can do to help you save your people, King, you have my word."
With such grave news Ambriel turns to you, the citizens of Aywas to try to help put a stop to Aketch! What better way to defeat the hungry Unus than with that which he desires... more food!? With the help of Ambriel you can Cook a Gingerbread Warrior! The ingredients have been scattered all around Aywas, in the Holiday lane, in the Random Crap Shop, and various other locations.. however these warriors will be useless unless we can bring them to life! To meet this end, Ambriel is sharing his gift with the world. The Gift of Life can be collected in the Donation Box and is necessary to cook any member of the Gingerbread Army!
Once you have prepared a Gingerbread you can go to join the Battle of the Gingerbreads! and submit them for points! Instead of doing typical prizes for this event, those points will be converted for you to spend in the Gingerbread Shop which will hold a variety of the current holiday goodies!
We also would like to announce that you can collect some of those special holiday items for USD Credit! It was a major request on the previous news posts comments, and I am sorry for not responding to everyone individually, but I thought it would be best to just go ahead and set them up! So sorry that I missed these the first time around~
I am also happy to announce that the holiday items now open into the *proper* items, had a minor hiccup. So the pudding has been returned to the shop and is ready to be eaten! The Custom Crystal Grab Bag and Wrapped Crystal are also good to go and should no longer be giving out retired items.
If you bought one of the holiday items from the shop between the release and this news post and you received a retired item please PM me (Kaiyo #489) so I can verify this and look into a refund for you. If the item has already been used, given away, sold, or otherwise is no longer on your account then we won't be issuing refunds as you've already found a use for it!

Aww I only just picked out something from the donation box. Will the supply of Gift of Life be refilled once in a while or is there only going to be one batch?
