3 art critiques i guess you would say....1 I think the eyes should be more innocent looking like the older one...2 I think the tail should be straight like the old one with the 3 or 4 segments at the end...I think the end of the tail should be more like the old one more of a pincer type thing than scorpion stinger and if not the stinger should be shortened. I think the tail is what most are having issue with... Thanks for reading :)

Meh. I say the old. The new one is neat, but there could be improvement. I have a few critiques if anyones interested.

1) If you are going for the 3/4 view, as indicated by the visibility of the far pinscer, the eye is too far forward. If it is profile, the pinscer should be moved back.
2) Not that I could probably do any better, but the shading is sort of...limited. Spread out the shading. For example, there is only one dark stripe of shading on the back leg that is visible.
3) I agree that the eyes should be more innocent and less...analyzing/intelligent. It looks like its picking apart your actions, which isn't exactly the look a pet should have in my opinion, unless it is supposed to be slightly creepy. The older one's eyes look softer and more innocent.

Take my advice or don't, but it is not an insult to the artist. I was just trying to help ^^

Both of them are pretty whack, but I'm going to go for the old one since it's flaws look more intentionally cutesy-styled and not accidentally wacky like this new one. The new one has a super long neck, legs way too short for the length of its body, an angular baby head that's really creepy (and not in a proper buglike way), and that line down the middle of the body (is it supposed to show that it has some sort of carapace?) makes it look like one of those hollow easter egg things that have jelly beans in them.

oh and PS anatomy DOES matter on "made up animals". Broken anatomy plain out isn't aesthetically pleasing unless it's obviously intentional, which in the cases people are complaining about here it isn't/

Agreeing soso hard with Ishi. I don't like that the old Insi looks nothing like a bug and it has a ton of weirdness going on, but nothing on it sticks out like a sore thumb. This new one has several glaring flaws that immensely detract from its overall appearance.

Anatomy on fictional creatures is still important. You get some wiggle room on made up stuff but it still has to be believable and look good.

And guys? It's not like this is the end of the world if this revamp doesn't go through. Kuitsuku's style is NOT THAT HARD to imitate. I don't think anyone can get it perfect except Kuitsuku, but this site is chock full of talented individuals and I'm sure there are those around who can step up to the plate.

To be honest, I kinda like Nikki's edited suggestion best.

Do want Nikki's edited suggestion or else the old lines. The legs and feet on the new especially bother me.

Chichi: Yes, I saw that post - but maybe after seeing all of the complaints and suggestions he would consider allowing a community-made redraw/edit. There's no need to get short/rude.

What? I'm not being rude o.o I was just saying because it seemed like you thought that I didn't know what I was talking about :( I was only quoting him.

I, personally, hate the new lines. :c It just doesn't seem appealing at all.

Yes to the new lines.
