I like the idea of another not-a-Faux box, but I echo the same concerns - I don't want what happened to the Faux box occur here either.
And I suggest an easier ratio - 2 to 1 (mebbe) - would help reduce the chances of the box remaining full.

another faux box for anything that can be created using custom makers on site is just nnoooot a good idea in my mind. Don't get me wrong- I'd love it and use it, but I'd feel dirty for breaking the economy with my reckless desire ahaha.
Considering getting things through the custom queue is hard enough right now, I don't think anyone is going to have time to devote to enforcing percentage rules. Which means it will be a free for all through eyeballing. Which means when people get designs rejected for being 2% over-edited they're just going to pop them into the _insertgenushere_box. So basically for the time that they're spotlighted in the box, you can pretty much kiss that genus goodbye as far as being made using site items goes. I foresee a huge devaluing of custom crystals/orbs, a lot of irritated artists who have struggled to get their designs under a certain percentage and see people using this as a workaround, and another build up of hundreds of designs left to rot and take up space.
I think this should really be a faux-specific feature for the time being.

I like the idea, but it'd have to be for things that wouldn't mean bypassing the crystalchecking of designs by too much. Both 'boxes' we've had ened up with heavily edited designs even though it was meant to be 50% only, so I worry it'd 'break' the other common genera.
But it might work for things like the Miokit, scarl or sevryn perhaps? (Heck, since I've been crystalchecking for Miokits & scarls I could help with the box, I've gotten pretty good at guesstimating if a design is good for 50%)
