TOS Update - Account Sharing

Pets

The TOS has been updated regarding account sharing. Here is the text added. If you are involved in account sharing, please follow the directions as soon as possible to ensure your virtual property's protection.

If an account is shared between two people, this is still considered to be one account. Be aware that in sharing a single account, the actions of both players are held equally responsible for all aspects involving said account. It does not matter if the other players sharing this account are aware of the rules being broken, the punishment will still apply to the dual account the same as a single player account, regardless of whether or not the other person knew the rules had been broken or not.

As of 3/4/2010, all users who wish to engage in shared account behavior must submit a joint agreement document to [email protected] with the following: each user's online handle, e-mail, and what content of the accounts will rightfully belong to that user in the event of an account breakup. Materials listed on the joint document agreement must be returned to its rightful owner in the event of an account breakup. Any goods not listed on this document and any further goods gathered in the account as a result of shared efforts must be dealt with by said users, and administration will not moderate the division of said goods. This joint document cannot be edited, updated, or resubmitted once it has been submitted.

Frey, that's basically what I just said. xD I liked the idea of Pet-ID Tags so people could put their names/IDs on the pet's lookup (beside its name or in the stats or something) butyeah, that's what I said afterward. Why can't people just put them in groups, rather than use a form that protects only what they have at the time they send in the list? Items would be difficult to do that with, but pets would be easy to categorize into "yours", "mine" and "ours", and the "ours/shared" just be liable for being taken away if rules are broken, since the rule-breaker still has partial ownership and so on. Of course..the simplest solution is just to not break the rules and risk losing your stuffs. xDD

Ah, I thought you meant the coders doing something like making categories and whatnot lol. But having it in writing ensures that people won't go OMG YOU TOOK MY CUSTOM WHAT THAT WAS MINE when breakups occur. This only has to do with what you have currently though, whatever else you get from hereon out after you submit your inventories and whatnot is something you have to deal with. It's simply to help lock things in, yeah it'll be tougher for future items/pets gained but it's at least some form of security.

Dember, after the :P was supposed to be a line break, so the rest of it wasn't addressed to you. Sorry about the confusion. :)

That's interesting. Its a marriage prenup! Seems like a good idea in case things go sour ^^

Dember: this isn't just about rule breaking, this is to prevent a person losing out in case of a bad break up. I've seen several bad break ups where someone claims something as theirs that might not be and it gets pretty messy and vicious. Ex: I have a steel liger and I start sharing. My partner and I decide to split for whatever reason only now she is claiming the steel liger is hers and/or holds it hostage by demanding I give her something to get it back. I've no proof its mine, only my word against hers. This prenup ensures this conflict can't happen. You might think its stupid/pointless and why can't the users keep track themselves but it happens and then admins are brought in and they have to try and sort things out....it just turns into a big mess.

I still don't see why anyone would /want/ to share an account. xD You can't split the items given out in events, so you have to decide who gets it; you earn half as much stuff on games and dailies; any goals you achieve together are shared rather than belonging to either one of you...I'm just at a loss as to why anyone would opt to do something that makes it so much harder and more difficult. Once more, very glad I've never as much as considered it. Anyway, good luck with your prenubs to all those who do, though. xD
