I feel like only similarly themed HA entries should be pitted against eachother. It's not a very fair or exciting race when everyone already knows the "cutest" or "prettiest" entry will win.
Not bashing the winner, by the way. It's very well done.

That's not actually the case. There's been some contests that have ended with very tech/masculine winners.
Its just a matter of what the players vote for. and that changes over time. Stink, the sword continues to be a good runner up.

That's usually the case. A lot of the best bases are bases done merely because "it's what the artist loves". :)

I honestly think there'd be a lot fever entries, if you only could submit a base once, and it had to be done for the theme of "this month".
I don't know if you've noticed, but there's normally only one or two actual new entries every month. And often these get resubmitted the next month (unless they win). We'd have a *very* different contest, if you had to follow a new theme every month "to ensure a specific sort of set would make it that month". And even then, the cutest or prettiest set following that theme could still just as easy win. Also it wouldn't be unheard of, that there only was 3-5 bases in total to vote for. Especially not if the winners takes a few months break after getting a winning base, as most do right now.
As it is now, we statistically have 1/3 traditionally feminine bases winning, 1/3 traditionally male, and 1/3 kinda unisex. I honestly don't think it could be spread out much more fairly, even if it got themes. - Believe it or not, but the "coolest" entry has often won as well (people just tend to remember the cute and girly ones for some reason).

I don't mean theme as in "Flowers", "Christmas", or "Sponges". By themes, I mean each month could be either Cool, Cute, Beautiful, etc. That way you're not pitting a lavish dress set with beautiful swans and a moon background against an equally well made sharp edged tech suit with a battle axe and blood splatter. The way it is now, the race tends to end before it begins...
