Sylverwyng (#31969) - As another site artist, I feel like offering all of one to some lucky soul really isn't going to cut into the rarity or value of the pearls to us, really, ya know? It's just a nice gesture, and perhaps someone who would not be able to afford to buy a pearl from us normally will win. :3
I mean if this becomes a regular thing then I'll be right there with you, but this is the first and only time it's ever been offered to the general public so it feels a little early for a mutiny. x3 (..Just a little. Ssh don't reveal the plan.)

I don't know hun. Its one of the few perks we get...I just think there are a lot of other things they could have used other than something that was SUPPOSED to a nice gesture for us. That is just my opinion though.

I have to agree with flora. Having a single item given to the public isn't going to de-value its cost for everyone wanting one. Just look at how many raffle entries were given. There's obviously enough demand to go around.
Not to mention this item gets consumed, so even if this one item does get handed out, its very likely to get spent up within a month, and taken out of the system to be turned into a pet.
Trying to say the item should only belong to site artists is a tad elitist, and might make people not want to trade with you.

this is gonna sound probably emotional or hardcore (or long-winded, which in that case is true lmao), but trust me, I'm not emotionally invested in the item itself. The genus is easy enough to get through breeding anyways. I just am a hippie at heart and can't hold these two cents inside me or I'll inwardly implode within myself. And that would get messy D:
It is one embryo pearl. It isn't gonna be a regular thing. Artist's are paid here - either with GP or USD or whatever. That is a perk in itself. The pay might not seem like a lot, but considering so many sites just consist of free volunteers and art is done with contests with simple rewards (as they deem the art being used on the site is a reward in itself for the recognition), I think you are being a bit dramatic. There are USD items being used. They are USD exclusive for the most part. I think just because something is stated as exclusive doesn't mean it is completely written in stone. I'm not even sure where the animated crystals come from. But there are people who spent a lot of BP on the mineral stones and they are supposedly retired. So bring a retired item back up would be weird too with that logic.
The site does a lot for the artist's and I think throwing a hissy fit over a single embryo pearl being offered as a raffle prize is a little bit overeacting as it isn't the end of the world. If Essgee (Flora?? idk whom) is correct in that this is the first (and probably the only) time it will be used as a prize... then being all "this is an outrage" is real excessive and I think maybe the site should be given a break. There are many users out there besides the artists. Is it that bad if someone who doesn't have a chance otherwise to get an embryo pearl gets one? Spreading the love perhaps?
But my main point is most of the items are exclusive to some degree so that argument could be used for all/most of them. Just because this one is the artist exclusive doesn't make that argument even more valid than for the others. This is a community. Everyone should matter. Plus with recent raises for some/all artists (per baby/design done or whatever) recently as well as the commission platforms being just opened, insinuating the site is being unfair to artists for just the little one time raffle is a little idk.. "uncool". I'm not trying to be a total jerk. I'm just real sick of this keeping things rare/exclusive attitude so it has just gotten to the point I can't keep quiet anymore. I was never one for that. I think sharing and giving people "once in a lifetime"-ish opportunities is really neat. I don't really care about digital game economies. I care about people... I mean, I don't want the "digital economies" to collapse. But I don't mind things loosing a little value to make them more affordable for the whole. In any case, I don't even think this will happen with the one embryo pearl anyway. So I'd chill out. I think it just means maybe it won't be an artist getting a embryo pearl (without purchase from an artist like what normally would be needed) for once. once!
This raffle IS a nice gesture to us - the community as a whole. An artist is free to try to win it too you know. Depending on the artist position , a different amount lists handed in on time is needed. Maybe a metal/lbc artist will win which tends to require a bit more lists than a PBC artist to get the pearl.. So this is a good oppurtunity for some artists as well. Especially newish ones or ones that know they are only temporary for IRL reasons. don't make it us vs. them. That isn't a good attitude to have in a community. Again especially since this probably won't be a common event - most likely once in a lifetime... :c

You all are acting like I care about its cost. The cost has nothing to do with it. That item was supposed to be a neat item to reward site artists for turning lists in on time. Period. It should not be given out to the public for any reason. I could care less about its value. I traded one for some PMBCs. I care about the integrity of the item, which is SUPPOSED to be a reward to the site artists for doing good. And thats what I have to say about it.

Raffling off a single Embryo Pearl to the community is not meant to lessen the reward to site artists. All site items are eligible for raffle prizes, and even with exclusive items like USD items, NaNo prizes, Premium Items, Scav rewards, etc., they still sometimes show up in special raffles. By no means would this be a common occurrence. - Eri

The SCC species actually belongs to me PERSONALLY ( I have the founders in my files and commissioned the species for MYSELF ) that I decided to share with the artist team to reward them. There's really no need to be so ridiculous about one being released as a prize.

Personally as a site artist, I am kind of miffed y'all would make this a public auction. Just my opinion.
