Commissions Platform

Site Update

After some fiddling around and testing by a core artist team, the big change is finally here! We are opening the market up for artists to take USD commissions for pet designs and HA artwork.

The new Commissions Platform is where artists are permitted to post ads and make transactions for their USD art services. Want to take commissions? Post your ad there! Want to sell a unique design or a set of designs? Post your ad there! How about PSD uses? Go for it! It's available for the USD sale of any derivative artwork made from Aywas pet bases or HAs.

Unlike the Paintbrushes, which essentially charged a 50% fee for taking USD commissions, use of the Commissions Platform only requires a 15% fee of all finalized receipts. Fee Collection days are on the 1st, 7th, 14th, and 21st of the month. The next fee collection day will be on the 14th due to the timing of this release.

A Knowledge Base article has been released with rules regarding using the Commission Platform and a description of the Fee Collection.

It's only natural that artists will start shifting over from Artist Paintbrushes to accepting commissions through the Commission Platform. As a result, we have raised the Paintbrushes payout to 75% of the original price of the brush (for instance, the Gold Paintbrush, which costs $20, will yield $15 payout).

Paintbrushes will still likely be in use by players who cannot use PayPal accounts themselves, and have to buy brushes from other players with GP or services. But they will yield more now, so they won't be entirely phased out by the Commission Platform.

Please note that this change in payment amount may result in some delays with redeeming Paintbrushes initially. Also, please be aware that the description states that Paintbrush information should be sent to account #15 now.

The Terms of Service has been updated to reflect our new rules regarding USD sale of pet designs under the section "USD Sales of Designs By Artists". In addition, we have decided to add a new site-wide rule:

"You agree that you will not spam or send unsolicited advertisement or commercial messages to players through the PM system."

One final note: these changes (the Commission Platform, especially) are going to be in trial period mode for three months. This is a big change and will undoubtedly have a lot of effect on the economy of the game. We reserve the right to remove the Commissions Platform at any time, but we will make our best effort not to do so before the three month trial period is up so we have time to examine the effect it has.

The GCC tickets aren't in the USD shop anymore, but they were 25$ when they were there.
The MDT tickets you can choose just one artist if you want to, so you do get to pick your artist as long as they're ok with your prompt and don't reject it (which they can reject through the commission platform as well anyways).

The commission platform basically works like the Artist Event has in previous years, allowing users to sell colors, psd uses, commissions, etc. for USD.
I think allowing PSD uses through it is fine. When you work for the GCC team it's with the understanding that you are giving full rights to whoever you do a design for and they can do whatever they want with it.
On the other hand, If someone has purchased full rights with the ability to sell them for paintbrushes (which would be necessary if they were to sell them on the commission platform) selling for brushes is the same as selling it on the commission platform...just with less money spent on the user side (30$ of straight USD vs buying 2 Silver PBs for 60$ to get the artist 30$ USD).
PSDs being sold for USD has already been happening with paintbrushes, it's just easier now. Nothing has changed except users don't have to pay as much for the same things (paintbrushes vs. straight USD. ex. 30$ of paintbrushes for the artists would cost a user 60$ vs. only 30$ USD through the commission platform).
People have always pulled PSDs out of "retirement" and as long as they've stated that PSDs may be resold or sold for USD then it's 100% fine for them to do that and users bought those uses knowing that they could be pulled out of retirement.
Someone can't say "Only 5 psd uses will -ever- be sold" and then pull them out of retirement to sell for USD, that would be breaking the rules and they can be reported to staff for it and those PSDs would be taken down.

I hope that makes sense ><.

almost put 3898. bullet dodged I hope.

Made good enough sense for me lol. I wasn't around for the artist events though and I was wondering if psd uses even sold just for paintbrushes. But in any case, around 15 minutes ago I realized jeweled thingies were kinda like commissioned PSDs to be sold for USD (I never thought about them like that before took two glasses of wine to be like wait a minute) so I guess "when in Rome" (and if it is allowed like it is now) go for it I guess. I feel just so bad for the people will no way to get stuff with USD without jumping through hoops... or paying in GP to get something vicariously through someone else.. and no one does that without scooping up some extra GP in the process... so yeah.. /shrug. It is what is though. USD is always gonna be a big player on this site. I'm just new so while it has always been an obvious element. I'm not used to it being so prominently used on what I consider a game site.... Though it is kinda like a I have a phrase I want to use but I don't want to get in trouble. It would sound mostly silly but better safe than sorry lol

On a side note, I'm not sure how one would know if someone got the rights for the PSD to be sold in paintbrushes (and thus for usd now via the platform) except if someone were possibly to speak up (being the artist) that selling paintbrushes was not negotiated in but the person put the psd uses for sale in the platform thingy anywho..... that sounds like stuff discussed perhaps behind closed doors and if the artist has since left for whatever reason.....well yeah.. I feel it is quasi an honor system in a few possible ways and I never trusted the workings of an honor system to be honest (ironically worded... but I'll take it)

You know this really bites! Why is the site becoming more USD based!? We do not all have jobs or money!

Valice & Fenris (#20488) There's still plenty of people taking commissions for stuff besides USD! There's plenty of customs shops on the forum asking for GP, BP or items :)

I wonder... With Paypal taking their 13% off of the payment, plus Aywas's 15%, it looks like paintbrushes are still more the way to go: 25% vs the 28% through the Commissions thing, except that you can get more specific with dollar amounts.
