Commissions Platform

Site Update

After some fiddling around and testing by a core artist team, the big change is finally here! We are opening the market up for artists to take USD commissions for pet designs and HA artwork.

The new Commissions Platform is where artists are permitted to post ads and make transactions for their USD art services. Want to take commissions? Post your ad there! Want to sell a unique design or a set of designs? Post your ad there! How about PSD uses? Go for it! It's available for the USD sale of any derivative artwork made from Aywas pet bases or HAs.

Unlike the Paintbrushes, which essentially charged a 50% fee for taking USD commissions, use of the Commissions Platform only requires a 15% fee of all finalized receipts. Fee Collection days are on the 1st, 7th, 14th, and 21st of the month. The next fee collection day will be on the 14th due to the timing of this release.

A Knowledge Base article has been released with rules regarding using the Commission Platform and a description of the Fee Collection.

It's only natural that artists will start shifting over from Artist Paintbrushes to accepting commissions through the Commission Platform. As a result, we have raised the Paintbrushes payout to 75% of the original price of the brush (for instance, the Gold Paintbrush, which costs $20, will yield $15 payout).

Paintbrushes will still likely be in use by players who cannot use PayPal accounts themselves, and have to buy brushes from other players with GP or services. But they will yield more now, so they won't be entirely phased out by the Commission Platform.

Please note that this change in payment amount may result in some delays with redeeming Paintbrushes initially. Also, please be aware that the description states that Paintbrush information should be sent to account #15 now.

The Terms of Service has been updated to reflect our new rules regarding USD sale of pet designs under the section "USD Sales of Designs By Artists". In addition, we have decided to add a new site-wide rule:

"You agree that you will not spam or send unsolicited advertisement or commercial messages to players through the PM system."

One final note: these changes (the Commission Platform, especially) are going to be in trial period mode for three months. This is a big change and will undoubtedly have a lot of effect on the economy of the game. We reserve the right to remove the Commissions Platform at any time, but we will make our best effort not to do so before the three month trial period is up so we have time to examine the effect it has.

I made an ad but I probably won't get anything soon since the new is dripping of me still haha. This is such a neat addition though, thank you! :D

Just a quick concern from a non artist: Won't it kill EVERY on site custom feature? Who will buy GP when they can commission the artist right away?
People can buy GP off other users with BP or adventure to sell collected items in bulk..all that will be gone right?
I think this is really amazing but also I am very concerned how the site will be affected by this :/

People who are not 18 cannot use the feature, so everyone under that age will still have to purchase things using GP or paintbrushes. There are also artists who will still work for GP I'm sure, people do need GP for things on site still. People also need the custom making items from the GP shop which...you need to buy GP for or get GP somehow. There's tons of stuff on site that people pay GP for other than commissions.
People will still purchase GP for things other than commissions, and a lot of GP is brought into the site from site artists who work for GP rather than USD.

You also cannot charge more than the cap price for predicts through the feature so it won't kill the breeding teams either and those should still function as normal. MDT and GCC may lose some people but MDT has sooo many people on it already it wouldn't hurt and GCC should still retain a lot of artists who like taking prompt based things rather than strict commissions where they'll be expected/required to do changes.

I hope you're right and people will still take GP commissions, that'd be great.
True that you still need Custom Makers and GP I really hope that won't die out because even though I like the idea about commission the artist directly I still love the GP collecting thing and would be sad if that would die out.

Thanks for answering~

I'm in a position, where I'd have to earn quite a few USD, before I'd consider it worth the trouble I'd have to go through for with my tax reports.
Long story short, it's more enjoyable for me to be paid in a virtual game currency, than it would be to take USD. Especially since my somewhat minimum wage North European job earns me more than 15 USD/hour, and I really wouldn't want to work for much less for my art.

As long as I'm paid in GP I can pretend it's an entirely different thing worth different money, I can spend it on the game directly, and I won't have to go through tax hassles.

I can imagine I'm not the only one, that actually prefers earning GP over USD, because of tax hassles and existing adult jobs with steady income.
So, it's actually not just the people under 18 that will go for the GP. People that see commissions as their way of earning game money for game stuff also has no reason to do the USD thing.

I like this feature for what I imagined it would be reading most of the news post and not to be "that guy" but I'm not sure why PSD uses are included in a commissions platform. They aren't "commissions".... And I'm not liking this whole put up PSDs for a limited amount of time for USD only (or pulling "retired" PSDs out of retirement for USD...that is kinda ...eh, off to me)... that is like yanking money out of pockets (or attempting to at least) rather than one paying for services... Yes, people have a choice to use USD or not and will be acting upon free will... but I know temptation (or again attempts at temptation at the very least) when I see it... So while I approve of a commissions platform, I'm feeling it is too open at what one can charge USD for now... IDK.... I just feel it should stick to commissions or services of some kind. not things that are like pop a coin (or multiple dollars actually) in and you get a prize... And even if you have "full rights" to a PSD, I find it /extra/ shady for people selling stuff they had no part in except to fund the artist who created it, whether the concept was in their head or not... I know it is in test phase. But.. this seems weird too me.... Or maybe there should at least be price caps for PSDs. And the "limited" PSDs have to be around for at least x amount of time so people who don't have super deep pockets have a chance in hell. I personally would not pay IRL money for a PSD so I'm not saying this for my own sake. Though there is one PSD I saw for sale that was tempting. Not gonna lie, haha. On a side note, most people are offering services just like it would work out in the GCC or MDT way.. prompt-based with maybe *some* editing... and often for a price cheaper than an ticket when it comes to the metal designs... Not so much GCC (as they /were/ 25 bucks I think, right?.. and they aren't even available atm.. or are they? I don't remember lol).

So there is pretty much no point to having the MDT item in the USD shop... a lot of colourings go for less than 5 dollars even so even the specially priced 5 dollar MDTs one can get with a monthly scc making item... and I'm not sure if you can choose your MDT artist... I don't think you can? But you can definitely choose whom you hire for a "commission"...

These are just some things I am seeing maybe as trouble from a onlooker's point of view...

I'm also wondering how predict caps will work with this feature and the new paintbrush payout... out of curiosity mostly...
