With a tremendous 175,000 votes, Carolina Raptor Center catapulted to the top! They scored 4th place and managed to get the $25,000 grant!
Think about that for a second, guys. Because all of us came together and voted, a charity was awarded $25,000. That's way more than we will ever be capable of personally donating, but we still managed to make it happen. That's the unique power of a player base that cares about animals and their welfare.
Give yourselves a pat on the back, because that's amazing!

One of these days I really hope I can find a way to drag Aywas into a Salem Friends of Felines fundraiser. They're our local no-kill cat shelter and they're pretty much fabulous, but they've been struggling a lot lately - stray and feral cats have been getting completely out of control, to the part where it's dangerous for them in some parts of the city because people have started shooting and poisoning the strays, instead of taking them in for the $10 catch-and-release program.
If anyone has any ideas, let me know. I've been thinking about this for a couple of years, and I think it would be cool to do //something//, even if it means saving up for a slashbot slot for a Crazy Cat day or . . . something.
