PMBC and Married Pairs

Items

We unfortunately have an issue with married pairs taking up nearly the entire PMBC queue. While we're happy that the PMBC is being used more, this wasn't an intended result. A volume of married pairs this high makes the coin have very little profit, and in some cases, a loss.

As such, we unfortunately have to amend the PMBC rules to address this problem. From this point forward, pairs submitted via PMBC that are married will have a 30% chance of having a second offspring. Currently submitted pairs will not be affected by this change.

This should allow us to continue offering the PMBC instead of increasing the price (which would be illogical considering how close it is to the PLBC, which doesn't have this problem) or removing the coin entirely.

Sorry :(

This is stupid. What'd the point of even breeding married couples if you do this? I think there should be 30% chance for all pairs, married or not if you're going to do this, otherwise there is no point in buying a coin if you ask me as for its expensive enough. - growls - and I was going to buy a pmbc yesterday too. Screw that idea now, thanks a lot.

Why not just introduce a painted fertility potion? It could be added to either coin and could guarantee a second baby . That way Aywas can get USD to pay artists for the second baby and people wil be less tempted to marry their pets to get a second baby .

I can see how this is fair. :) So thanks for not removing the coin and still at least having a chance at getting a second baby.

Can everyone please try to remember that these are still new coins and it's going to take some time and some alterations to get everything running smoothly? The regular breeding ques have been around for years and still need tweaked every now and then, so it's fair to expect that you're gambling a little when you buy coins that are essentially still in a beta stage of development. Can't we all just be grateful that the Aywas staff is working hard to come up with creative new ideas that so many seem to be enjoying, regardless of if you get one or two babies back? It isn't fair to expect the site to lose money because you want a second baby. It just simply can't survive that way, and personally, I'd rather get less offspring from my breedings than not have Aywas at all because they can't afford to pay for the servers or pay quality artists.

Maybe just some things to remember before letting your anger get the best of you against people who work so hard for us. Taking a deep breath and a little time before typing a response if you think it might be hurtful can go a long way.

Let's do some math.

$8.99 (gonna use 9$) for the PMBC

Taxes: $2.97 - $3.60 (33%-40% taken out for taxes according to Slash)
Paypal fees: ~.60 cents (2.9% + .30 per transaction according to paypal, might be wrong)
Work: 6$ (3$ paid to artist per baby x2 babies)

6$ + 2.97 + .60 = $9.57
The site is spending $9.57 on a coin that costs the user $8.99.

So the site is losing money on married pairs even if they only get taxed 33% of the item price (if I'm reading Slash's post correctly :x). Even if they only got taxed 30% that's still $2.70 taken out per coin, which means married pairs are costing the site $9.37 which is STILL costing them money.

I'm surprised Slash is even still allowing married pairs a chance at a baby considering they're pretty much guaranteed to lose money (if I did the math right, feel free to correct me if I didn't).

Even though it sucks, the USD shop is supposed to make the site money, not cost it money. It's better than the coin getting completely taken away or not even getting the chance of married pairs having 2 babies.

Also everyone complaining about the point of the engagement ring now, it still works on EVERY OTHER COIN, so there is a point to it.

I think it's still being allowed because it's a 30% chance, it's low enough it's not going to happen a lot but high enough it encourages people to buy the coins. And given the nature of people, that actually encourages some people to spend more.((Look at some people with games of chance/gambling.)) Some people are likely to spend even more trying over and over until they get that 2 baby breed. So actually it's really smart.

I'm seconding the divorce paper mention. I'd really love for them to finally become a thing.

I can't agree more with 2868. The least expensive coins on ay tend to be the most unprofitable. Their queues are also the longest because of that and its queues like PLBC and BC that are fast.

@18747 I like the idea of expanding the dice idea from page 4 to non married pets. :) I am new to the breeding coin thing, so not sure what the difference between PMBC and PMLBC is. So glad it seems feasible (though I agree the prices need tweaked by staff as needed if its used. lol I just threw those in there to give the idea )
