Please don't split genders into "cisgender" and "transgender" like facebook did. this forces people to out themselves where they might not be comfortable disclosing. but anyway thank you for the options, and also for the pet options :)

@10 people get to choose what they put for their gender and can even chose not to disclose what gender they are at all. so why would it matter if they added those as options for people if they want to use them?

Erm, not to sound offensive, but why do we need all these different things - genderqueer, genderless, androgynous, neutrois, bigender, agender, genderfluid and what have you - when we could just say 'genderless' or 'androgynous'? I mean, don't they all mean pretty much the same...?

@34735

By generalizing, you are denying that they have as much of a right as cisgender people to call themselves what they want. Just like not all Asians are Chinese, not all nonbinary people are genderless or androgynous.They all DO have different meanings, and some people prefer certain names over others.

@1165 because men are men, and women are women, whether they are cisgender or not. Bisecting it into those two options without allowing a person to disclose their gender otherwise is restrictive. I'm not saying those options shouldn't be added, as long as there is just the option without "transgender" or "cisgender" before that for people who want their gender known without outing themselves as transgender or having to lie about it. I don't care if you think that matters for yourself, but to others that can be important.

@10 I fail to see the harm in people asking for more additional ways to identify. I know several people who identify specifically as trans* men and women. Some people are proud of their identity. No one is forcing all the non-cisgendered people to identify themselves. it's just another option for people who WANT to. Additional identities. Not replacements.

This change doesn't really apply to me, but I'm still glad to see it. I'm very happy that the staff was able to give those users who don't identify as strictly 'male' or 'female' choices. It's also pleasing to see the new choices being applied to pets.
