Site Update

I have a Lunar Meteor update for you, but before I get to that, I wanted to share a personal anecdote with you that just so happens to coincide with the magic of this region.
You always hear stories about people seeing strange things in the sky, whether it's another planet, a stealth plane or other flying object, or an actual meteorological event, but about the most exciting thing I've ever seen in the sky is a bat--and even then, I'm not 100% positive it was one.
Tonight though, I looked out the window to see glowing lights off in the distance moving toward my house. At first I couldn't tell how high they were in the air, but it was clear that they were moving quickly, all following the same path, one after the other in a seemingly endless stream of flickering light. I realized that they were moving with the wind, and they were lower than I originally thought, but they were definitely literally flickering like a candle. That's when we realized they were lanterns! I don't know where they were being released from or why, but they were beautiful. I couldn't have picked a more perfect night to see them, either. :3
Feel free to leave a note in the comments about neat things you've seen in the sky!
Now, onto the pet additions!

5 new pets have been added to the region to round out our zodiac pets and the new colorations for the region this year!

We have also added the Lunar Meteor Day Wallpaper to the Advent Calendar! You can collect it any time on August 18th (tomorrow).

For you night owls, you'll find the night version of the wallpaper in the Advent Calendar on the following day (August 19th).
Enjoy the pretty lights!

The coolest things Ive seen in our skies are the Aurora Borealis and the occasional comet. Ive had a life long fascination with the northern lights and see them every year. Another really cool night light event is seeing the lights of Casper Wyoming from The mountain its like seeing Christmas lights all year long.

Every year around this time, my family takes a few hours' drive north so we can get away from the city and go stargazing. We often arrive at our spot (a field) around 1AM, and stay until the sun starts to rise. It's so relaxing to watch the shooting stars falling and the sky lightening, although the chilly morning air always proves we didn't dress appropriately. XD Sometimes the clouds look like they're glowing! Once, instead of settling into our spot and quietly stargazing, my siblings decided to run shrieking through the field and scared up a swarm of fireflies that whirled above us and scattered. *-* That was both freaky and amazing.

Coincidentally, my dad claims he saw a UFO last night.
I love bats, especially when they're flapping around at night.

I work nights in an office so over the last weekend, we shut off all the lights and watched the perseids. Glorious.

When I was two, I saw Santa Claus in his sleigh on Christmas Eve in the night's sky. My parents and I were on the way home from my aunt's house, where we traditionally held Christmas Eve celebrations. I was so excited about the prospect of Santa being at my house so soon that I dove into bed as soon as we got home. In reality, it was probably an airplane or something like that. But for that night, it was Santa's sleigh, and it was the most magical moment of my little life.

I once saw a red rainbow! I was in the car one evening and I was looking out the window and the whole sky was tinted red, and then I saw a rainbow that was completely red and no other colour! I hadn't known that could even happen!

The coolest thing I've seen in the sky is the meteor fireball that I saw, during the day, driving home one afternoon a few years ago. It was extremely large, extremely bright, and extremely cool.
