Site Update

I have a Lunar Meteor update for you, but before I get to that, I wanted to share a personal anecdote with you that just so happens to coincide with the magic of this region.
You always hear stories about people seeing strange things in the sky, whether it's another planet, a stealth plane or other flying object, or an actual meteorological event, but about the most exciting thing I've ever seen in the sky is a bat--and even then, I'm not 100% positive it was one.
Tonight though, I looked out the window to see glowing lights off in the distance moving toward my house. At first I couldn't tell how high they were in the air, but it was clear that they were moving quickly, all following the same path, one after the other in a seemingly endless stream of flickering light. I realized that they were moving with the wind, and they were lower than I originally thought, but they were definitely literally flickering like a candle. That's when we realized they were lanterns! I don't know where they were being released from or why, but they were beautiful. I couldn't have picked a more perfect night to see them, either. :3
Feel free to leave a note in the comments about neat things you've seen in the sky!
Now, onto the pet additions!

5 new pets have been added to the region to round out our zodiac pets and the new colorations for the region this year!

We have also added the Lunar Meteor Day Wallpaper to the Advent Calendar! You can collect it any time on August 18th (tomorrow).

For you night owls, you'll find the night version of the wallpaper in the Advent Calendar on the following day (August 19th).
Enjoy the pretty lights!

I haven't seen much cool stuff in the sky (I live in the city) :/ So all we would see are perhaps just a few stars in the sky.
So when I finally went off overseas for scuba diving, the night sky had literally transformed itself for me into a wonder that was filled with stars all over.

Coolest thing i've seen is a meteor and the next day that same meteor hit somewhere around China I think... I don't remember where it hit.
I've also seen what looked like two suns before but it was the reflection of rain of a rainbow. It was cool looking.
Also seen some red moons too. And a few others like hot air balloon's, and someone use to rid a motorized para-glider.

Hmm...there've been a few. The total lunar eclipse that caused me to miss the Red Sox winning the 2004 World Series (for the first time in 86 years - my ball-fan friends are still ragging me about that, lol) - a VERY strange and enormous craft that passed overhead in utter silence in Boston in broad daylight about 15 or so years ago (never did find out what it was) - and the times in deep winter in New Hampshire when there were no artificial light sources around and I could see not only the stars but the Milky Way itself smeared across the sky.

hooray! that background is so pretty, I'm glad I get to keep it. :D The coolest thing I've ever seen in the sky... well there are two. One night us kids stayed up with our Dad to watch a meteor shower, and though it wasn't a very big one, it was still amazing. And then there's New Years in Europe: fireworks everywhere you look, all night long. Which makes sleep pretty much impossible... and one year a bullet hit our window. Live on the edge, right?

-wants the backgrounds- Ty for the news. Hmmm I think its common over there in Taiwan, not so much here. So during last year's Lantern Festival celebration at a park which I went to, they released a few big paper lantern things they called "Tian Deng" which flew up to the sky which I think looked awesome. First time seeing them so close.

Few weeks ago I was walking the dogs at night when I saw what I thought was a UFO way up in the sky. I wondered why aliens would choose to visit the small town I live in, but I was all psyched up to be abducted by them, which was a childhood goal of mine. Turns out it was just a plane though, so it was actually really disappointing for me.

I saw my first bat flying around last night! Saw it for a few seconds tonight too. Bats are my favorite animal, so that was awesome. Also seen many, many, MANY odd glowing lights in the sky. Actual massive flares a couple months ago. And by this Xmas, I'll be able to see the northern lights. :)

Yep, they're both HA things, and I did see your suggestion. :3 I was planning releasing these but didn't want to spoil it. XD - Eri
