TOS Clarification

Rules

explore_moneylighter.gif

This is an important announcement about a site rule clarification.

Linking to fundraising sites, donation sites, Paypal, etc. and/or otherwise asking or implying a request for monetary donations is not allowed on Aywas, as part of our Terms of Service.  We've noticed a number of these types of threads pop up recently.

In addition, offering things in exchange for "donations" is not allowed. If you are in a bind and in need of USD, we advise making a sales thread to sell your art for RL$* and follow Aywas sales rules (See: Sales and Breeding Rules in the TOS). Offering pet PSD colorings or other Aywas items for RL$ "donations" is technically selling those items for RL$ which is against the TOS (See: Sales and Breeding Rules and USD Sales and Cross-Site Trading in the TOS).

No fundraising in RL$ is allowed, unless it is on behalf of an official 501 (c)(3) charity where the money goes directly to the organization, or with prior arrangement with the Aywas site owner and Aywas administration.

If you have a post/thread that breaks these rules, we expect you to remove the links and rephrase the post (if need be), or remove the entire post immediately following this news post.

All of the above is covered in the Site Rules section of the TOS:
"- not solicit any asset - whether points, pets, items - from any user without offering proper pay (begging)"

We felt the need to clarify that the above TOS rule does not only apply to site assets, and does in fact also apply to IRL assets also.

* Note: RL$ = Real Life Currencies or anything that can be exchanged for Real Life Currencies such as gift cards, etc.

Thank you for your cooperation!

I have to agree with Soul, I would understand if it was site assets but for some people, including my self, Aywas is the only support system. Not having anyone really IRL and the like. But thank you for the clarification.

@KittyConundrum: The post is mainly about real life currency only. You're not fundraising with real money or begging for tips, so the ToS rule stated above doesn't really apply.

Rule question: Are we allowed to link sites where people can purchase things, like saying "Hey, look at this great deal on Naruto T-Shirts I found on Amazon! -link-"
Or fundraising sites where you get a physical thing in exchange for your donation, like kickstarter?

Because when I see an awesome deal, even if it's on kickstarter, I usually want to link it. Not to support the runners but because it's something that I would/have bought and think other people would want to buy.

I think the Life Help event awhile ago made people think it was okay. I can understand it when the site says they are allowing it. But I'm sorry, I was getting a little tired of seeing all the begging boards, so I appreciate this being restated for clarification. Lots of people are in a hard place right now, I for one do not have a lot of money to throw around and what little I budget myself for fun I like to use for fun. I dislike feeling guilty spending my hard earned fun money on something fun then coming here and seeing boards begging-makes me feel like a heel for spending my fun money on myself. If people really need money-there are charities, shelters and cash loan advance places. I never thought Aywas was the right place to ask.

So... if I link to a Kickstarter, that's against TOS? We cannot use the forums to promote ourselves? So, then, why is linking to other pet sites okay? Or promoting any kind of site, for that matter. Or, hell, why allow USD art sales if those same artists would not be allowed to sell that art via a platform like Kickstarter? I mean, I get that you don't want people begging on the forums. I don't want that either. But I also don't like when I can't do something as simple as link to something in a thread or my signature. -C

Weird, I haven't seen any of the gofundme boards but I see them in the tumblr tag. I assume that it's still acceptable in the tumblr aywas tag since it's not on-site?

I have a website that I am currently trying to get off the ground and so I am just asking to get a little bit of traffic going towards it. I am selling hand made nick-knacks and stuff like that, but I am not even asking people to purchase the items that I have listed there. Would I still have to remove the thread that I have the advertizement on? I only ask because I see it as kind of a grey area and I don't want to break any rules, I love this site too much XD
