TOS Clarification

Rules

explore_moneylighter.gif

This is an important announcement about a site rule clarification.

Linking to fundraising sites, donation sites, Paypal, etc. and/or otherwise asking or implying a request for monetary donations is not allowed on Aywas, as part of our Terms of Service.  We've noticed a number of these types of threads pop up recently.

In addition, offering things in exchange for "donations" is not allowed. If you are in a bind and in need of USD, we advise making a sales thread to sell your art for RL$* and follow Aywas sales rules (See: Sales and Breeding Rules in the TOS). Offering pet PSD colorings or other Aywas items for RL$ "donations" is technically selling those items for RL$ which is against the TOS (See: Sales and Breeding Rules and USD Sales and Cross-Site Trading in the TOS).

No fundraising in RL$ is allowed, unless it is on behalf of an official 501 (c)(3) charity where the money goes directly to the organization, or with prior arrangement with the Aywas site owner and Aywas administration.

If you have a post/thread that breaks these rules, we expect you to remove the links and rephrase the post (if need be), or remove the entire post immediately following this news post.

All of the above is covered in the Site Rules section of the TOS:
"- not solicit any asset - whether points, pets, items - from any user without offering proper pay (begging)"

We felt the need to clarify that the above TOS rule does not only apply to site assets, and does in fact also apply to IRL assets also.

* Note: RL$ = Real Life Currencies or anything that can be exchanged for Real Life Currencies such as gift cards, etc.

Thank you for your cooperation!

- Mauri

I guess some people got confused because of the exceptions for the neat Artist Event. Thanks for the clarification for everyone now! I hope the confusion doesn't mean that the staff won't consider such events in the future. It was a neat thing to have. :)

Thank you for this! The begging for real money was getting really annoying. This is a giving community, but people are abusing that by begging just because it WORKS.

""- not solicit any asset - whether points, pets, items - from any user without offering proper pay (begging)""
Err, that doesn't actually say anything about anything offsite. Maybe that's where the misunderstanding started?

I can understand not allowing Aywas items/pets/colorings/commissions etc be offered for donations etc. But it seems a little harsh to not allow people to post a gofundme link and ask for a little help? Aywas is a huge support system, and often times is the -only- place people have to go where they have any sort of support? Is there any way that maybe something like this could be allowed, but only if the people aren't offering site things for it? I've seen some people get helped out of situations where it's almost life or death all because of the Aywas community. It seems like it's an entirely different situation than is covered in the TOS (begging) since usually they aren't pestering people or begging, they are just asking for a little emergency help. Most people don't have anywhere else to go?

The "whether points, pets, items" was intended as an example and not as a definitive list, which we have come to see was part of our error =)

In addition to Eve's comment, it mentions "any asset". Regardless, this was why we're posting a clarification and not simply jumping to punishing people, but rather giving them a chance to understand and fix the existing problems.

I have a post now that I'm doing free drawings. Am I not allowed to note that tips are welcome but not required? (Tips meaning bp/gp/site stuff) I'm just double checking that I am understanding correctly.

Ya'll should do some sort of fund raising on behalf of animals. Isn't April like animal shelter month or something?

Thanks for the heads up and reminder :)
