EDIT- Well, it looks like this no longer applies. :( CS2 isn't being reported as free to download anymore.
Hi artists,
For those of you who aren't aware, Adobe just released Creative Suite 2 (which includes Photoshop) for free. Go read about it here.
It's an older version of their programs, but older is better than nothing, and it's FREE!

Anyone know up-to-which versions of Windows and Mac it's compatible with? The article makes it sound like it won't run on the "newest" versions but does that mean, like, Windows 8 (is 8 still newest?), or Windows 7 and 8, or...? More specifically does anyone just know if it'll run on Windows 7? I've got Photoshop Elements 8 (and Gimp and SAI, the latter of which I favor but I still do or have to do some things in the others) but I'd like to see if CS2 is better for the things for which I can't use SAI, or if it's better at some things, etc.
...Buuuut I'm too lazy and paranoid to download it without knowing if it'll work or if it'll cause problems with other things first. x'3;

EssGee: My windows seven ran CS just fine, and it runs CS3, as well. It jsut says older computers to cover their butts. It will likely run it fine, it is just older than those so they can't guarantee it working 100%. But if ordinary CS works, CS2 should, as well.
I can't guarentee it working on Windows 8, though.

Mine is running on Windows XP. Generally Vista, 7, and 8 don't usually have problems running XP-compatible software, yea?

Oh wow... this is great because I lost my copy of CS2. Not that I need it right now, but it's awesome to know I can get it for free.
To those curious, I have CS2 on my Windows 7 computer and I've never had any issues with it.

My art computer runs CS2, so I can definitely tell you it's not a crap version of Photoshop XD I'm too cheap to upgrade it and it works just fine!
