The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Site Update

Actually I don't have any ugly to talk about. But we do have some good and some bad.

First, the bad:
- Creating new CDs has been disabled. After a lot of discussion, it seems that the income being yielded by CDs is causing a lot of detriment to the economy. You can still collect CDs that are maturing on the date that they mature as usual. It's a sad choice, but one we've had to make. We've been aware that the CDs are causing economy damage for a while, and while it will hurt to lose that income, the economy will be better as a result without GP and BP inflation.

Now, the good:
- You can now see when your breedings were assigned to a helper (breeding artist) by viewing them in the standing stones.
- You can now set your pet's breeding rules on the edit pet page, which will list them as searching for breeding mates
- You can now search for pets that are searching for breeding mates in the Search function (meaning, they have breeding rules). I think eventually we will expand this, but for now here's a simplified version of finding mates and viewing their rules.
- You can cancel your customs in your custom waiting queue if you see anything wrong with it/no longer want it, and resubmit as necessary.
- This isn't anything you can see, but two updates to the breeding panel make reviewing and handling predict submissions much less strenuous for the predicts team.

Coming up in the next hour or so:
- Being able to send people BP and GP anonymously from the Bank page. This is being worked on right now

That's all I got for you ~

The CD thing is too bad. Controlling the economy in this way kinda reduces the creativity of users to make wealth. Couldn't you just lower the interest we make?!? Also consider, most of us reinvested in NOOBS and others on the site with kind gestures of bp/gp. It would be a bad thing to reduce the kindness and generosity within our community.

Nice work! The good far outweighs the bad. I for one am ecstatic at being able to cancel customs in the queue. Thanks!

"I guess my question is why not limit the amount of GP CD's we can have along side capping how much we can invest in them like we did with the BP cd's?"

Because the problem will still be there. CDs are creating GP out of nowhere, even if severely limited, there would still be a problem.

The Good: breeding changes, The Bad: no more CDs, The Ugly: what your pet's page will look like after editing it to include breeding rules, lol.

And how many people would use the CD's if there was a limit? Last time the CD's were gimped there was an uproar from those who did use the feature and they quit using it. Why not do it again so it's not worth it for those earning 200 gp in a single CD to keep doing that?

Let's use the standard figure of 100 Gp for this. If I invest 100 gp for three months I'd get 8. Let's say I'm going for a fert potion. That means it would take me half a year before I'd even see it in my inventory. There also might have been other things that would have me spending some of the GP I had invested. I know for a lot of people it'd be easier to explore and buy GP. The limits would help. Why not take that step first before taking them away completely? It's what was done in the case of BP, so why not GP? Users hoarding that much GP would find better ways to invest it to get more. They'd either start using their talents again or just earn less GP.

I don't see how my 50k BP a week was bad for the economy... I could get more than that spending two hours in the Arctic. I just don't have time to spend Adventuring, so CDs were great for me. -_-
