Site Update
This is a short newspost, so please be sure to check the one under this for Holiday related goodies!
Yasu coded for me a 60-day regen, so I'm using it for the purpose of making Lesser Breeding Pendants 60 day regen. I know people will be rather upset by this, but with several hundreds in circulation and the price of pendant slots still horribly devalued, this needs to be done to cut back. I mean, look at the queue...
Lesser Breeding Coin (x311) | Lesser Breeding Pendant (x383)
This should not be as imbalanced. Pendants are supposed to be rare, so we're hoping this combats it. Think of it logically:
RBPS and MBPs are cheapest and pendants regen at 30 days.
LBPs are mid-grade in price and regen at 60 days.
BPs, EBPS, PBPs, and HBPs are the rarest, and are at a 90 day regen for this reason.
Please understand we do this to keep the balance in the system, and we really want to be fair on all accounts. This effectively means for the amount of LBCs people submit, a little over that amount comes around for free in the system. I hope this pans out eventually despite the obvious frustrations it will cause.
Now aside from this, spend those Candy Canes and Snowflakes and carry on merrily!

It seems like the Staff should have thought ahead and set something up so that there wouldn't be so many LBPs in the system, but what's done is done, and I'm sure they've learned from it. However, I agree with the people who said something else should have been tried first-- like exchanging LBPs for other items. Yes, people who bought LBPs will still get their investment back, but it will take twice as long, and the item that they bought has been devalued and no longer does what it was advertised as doing. I understand why they would feel cheated. Perhaps there really wasn't a practical alternative, but it still feels like the repercussions of a mistake on the Staff/Site's part are being shifted to the users, who one way or another legitimately earned their LBP. I just think that something, other than altering what the LBP does, should have been done to reduce the breeding queue. I'll certainly be a bit nervous to ever buy a pendant/similar item, if changes are liable to spring up. Hopefully this -will- have a positive effect for the site -overall-, staffers know more about how the whole system works than I do, for sure.

Why don't the staff buy the pendants with SP? I mean, SP is very very rare. With the 90-days-new-rule, I wouldn't mind selling mine to the staff. And this will not flood the site with other pendants, because they cost 50 SP now :]

I *wish* we could have a metal pendant in the trash shop.... *grins* I know, you don't want any more pendants around, so at a very high price, but that is my wish.... ;)

I wouldn't willingly sell my LBPs for SP. There's nothing in that shop anymore I'd consider worth the investment, and I don't really have high hopes that anything good will be added at a reasonable price. Similarly, I doubt I'd trade my LBPs for other pendants, for fear of those pendants being devalued the same way LBPs have been. It's just... disheartening.

I don't have pendants but this makes complete sense and anyone who does not agree, not to be offensive, must not know how an economy of any type works. This will be a lot better for everyone who breeds and not just pendant users anyway, do you know how long it takes to get BACK a baby with the queue so clogged? Not fun.

I dont think its fair. You made the item, you should have made sure it wasnt too common. Sorry. And wait a second here. My breeding pendant has two breedings on it. So if you think of it theres actually much less LBPs than you are making it sound. they are just being used more often. The more logical solution is to hire more LBC artists and not to have such high standards about it. For a site that has a huge difference in breeding you are going to hit different problems than the norm. My suggestion? Suck it up. I'm fine with waiting. Why should you have to take from your users for something that sounds more like your fault? I dont give a shit about economy. this is a game. Not real life. Stop punishing your users. I better use up my other items before you devalue them too.

If you want me to just hire any artist that comes my way, so be it. But I will close the Mistakes thread down in response if that is what people think the fixall would be. No one would be allowed to complain about any babies because we 'have too high of standards'.
I still do not understand people throwing a huge fit over one item changing. Acting like we'll have a thousand more changes soon is ridiculous and uncalled for. And acting as if we 'screwed up' by letting too many in the system is stupid as well. It was NEVER a mistake. People continually say 'the site is growing!' well so are breedings. So are the amount of people that own and use pendants. We are compensating for the growth by staving off the flood a little in order to handle it. WE need to grow as well, and we are. But we can't be overwhelmed either.
Would people rather deal with this + a 3-4 month wait on their LBC breedings, or let pendants go out with a 9-10 month wait?

I know you guys are all behind in stuff, but what about that Christmas-themed Frankenstein's workshop that Elz was working on? Are we still having that?

Frey: The problem isn't that you are trying to reduce breedings. It is that you gave people an item in exchange for time and work, then suddenly tore it out of their hands, ripped it in half, handed their mangled half-item back to them and threw the second half in the wood chipper. You didn't say "Hey guys, we're having trouble with the LBPs - would you be willing to sell them back to me for the price they were bought?" or "Would you be willing to trade them for [cool thing]?" Instead you said "You know that thing you worked hard and saved up for and purchased? Yeah, I'm halving its value. Have fun with that! It's totally for your own good and no difference at all really, you eventually get the same thing you just have to wait twice as long as we promised you would."

Let me start this out with: No, I don't own any LBPs. I'm just angry on principle.
If you don't like the fact that there are eventually "free" breedings, why did you make pendants in the first place? That is kind of the idea of the item. You pay the price of many breedings, then receive those breedings over a long period. In exchange for your patience and initial investment you get more breedings than if you had just bought all the coins outright - it's not "free", it's just discounted. It's like purchasing CDs. You can't access your breedings immediately, but eventually you get more.
I would have absolutely no objection to this, IF the staff offered to refund the full store purchase price of any person who wanted to trade in their LBP. I would also have no objection if the staff gave every LBP holder half of the store purchase price, as they are now half as valuable.
Instead, the staff has decided that they are going to severely devalue an item without warning, and likely without refund. When confronted about this, they act like the users who purchased the item that the staff chose to leave available for purchase are horrible people, and deserve this punishment. Not a great way to make friends, or encourage anyone to buy anything. After all, that PBP you buy might wind up with a 120 day regen. Maybe they'll decide that your custom item package is making too many items, and reduce it to 5 a purchase? Maybe too many users have too much premium for too little, so prices double and everyone gets their current time cut in half.
Encouraging consumer confidence is a good thing. You aren't doing it.
