Have you been good this year? According to the German tradition of Belsnickel, if you've been good all year -- meaning, you'll get presents -- Belsnickel will put a bell on your headboard while you're sleeping one week before Christmas.
December 18th is one week before Christmas... visit the Belsnickel page every two hours on the 18th to collect bells.
If you collect all seven, you can turn them in on Christmas into the Collections feature for a prize. (:

My family has been in germany for generations, and I asked my gandmother. NO SUCH TALES HERE XD

I think the site lag ate one of my bells. o.o I had three, then clicked again and got another one, which should have been four....but still only have three.

Mh I could only just start because the site was down for so long.. ah well. not sure if I'll make it.
I haven't heard of Belsnickel before, but apparently its the English translation of "Knecht Ruprecht"
. In the Christmas version I know, he is more like Santa's Helper, carrying the gifts to children. If you have been nice, you get a gift of sweets etc, if you have been bad, you'll get switched with a birch.
It might also be that Belsnickel refers to the Nikolaus. On the 6th of December, Children clean their shoes and put them outside the door. If they have been nice, the Nikolaus will put sweets in them.
We at least never celebrated on the 18th, and none in my family has heard about it either :) It might differ in other parts of Germany tho. And: Long story short, thanks for such a nice event :)
