We regret that we have to post this, but at this point it is necessary.
There has been a lot of hatred, negativity, and unsportsmanlike conduct coming from many teams as a result of this last Scavenger Hunt. We have seen a sharp increase in passive aggressive rants, mini-rants, and general abrasive attitudes toward teams and users, according to the reports we have received and the scenes we have witnessed onsite.
As stated when Scavenger Hunt was announced, unsportsmanlike conduct is strictly forbidden, and any team member engaging in it will adversely affect all of their other team members:
5. Teams are responsible for the action of all team players.
6. Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated in any form. Respect your team members, other teams, and the event.
We want to inform you that none of this behavior is going unnoticed, nor will it go unpunished. It is best if anyone engaging in such behavior immediately desist to prevent incurring punishment, such as a disqualification ruling. We are prepared to disqualify entire teams if this behavior does not cease.
Scavenger Hunt is supposed to be a fun game. A competitive nature is expected, and even encouraged, but the harassment and cruelty coming from some individuals is far beyond the bounds of an acceptable competitive nature. Our message to you, the users, is that we do not allow these hurtful actions, and the individuals involved will be dealt with.
If you see any unsportsmanlike behavior, we invite you to submit your report to a moderator so we may add it to the current discussions we are having on this matter. To find a moderator, please go to the Staff page and click on a user whose name is green.
