I know, it's okay, i'm a horrible person.
Going to start the results off with the May 2010 Design Contest.
These are your top three winners! The creators will receive their custom along with 2sp each.
Here's what a few judges had to say about these customs, respectively.
"This Orimi was just amazing. the detail in it shocked me. It really looks like a peacock and the colors are amazing. Very realistic for a bird on a fox base."
"Everything about this Insi is beautiful. I love the wolf fur pattern, it's done expertly. You can tell it's a wolf without any edits needed. It was my favorite!."
"This thing is just absolutely stunning! If I could I would steal it for myself! You can tell an awful lot of time, effort and detail has gone into it and the colours compliment each other and work well together."

So congratulations to everyone! There were so many wonderful entries, I wish everyone could have won. As usual, I can't wait to see the next round. :]
OKAY FINALLY. WRITING CONTEST RESULTS. I will definitely not be doing this again, rofl. It will probably be something shorter and more simple, mostly easier to judge. I learned a lot hosting this contest. If you have any feedback for how it was run (not counting the time involved so please don't comment on that) feel free to let me know here. I want to know any changes you think I should make and any ideas you might have for the next contest. I was thinking maybe a poem for July.
First place! Vettieboo #105 entry
"Although The Vyne Brothers has a relatively simple plot, the story is a nice snapshot of the lives of three dragons; it does not merely give exposition or lead up to a climax that never comes, but instead offers a short, succinct tale of one event. The most standout quality of this piece, however, is the characters. All three vynes were given a nice amount of attention, making them very memorable. The names and personalities of these vynes left a lasting impression on me because of how well developed/characterized they were and how much they interacted with one another."
Second place! Flying Toast #4822 entry
"The story to this was bittersweet and emotional, which is a strong accomplishment for a story without dialogue. The reader feels strong sympathy for the desperate mother, especially as the young children seem on the verge of giving up. The cliffhanger ending is both cruel and interesting, leaving the reader to decide for him or herself the fate of the poor family."
Third place! Prelude #4532 entry
"This piece successfully illustrates a present series of events while nodding to the characters' backstories. The characters and plot alike are interesting, insightful and well developed and the story continuously moves forward, keeping the reader attentive and guessing what will happen next. The only real drawback to this piece is that the third vyne plays more of a supporting role rather than a main one, so it does not get much character development or interaction time, but it is a nice link between the two other vynes."
Our three honorable mentions are Skitty #543, Mel and Zane #351, and last but not least Whispers #112~!

I'd also like to take this time to mention that as usual, we are still hiring for both LBC and BC artists! Frey and I have discussed payment and artists will be receiving another pay raise. They will now get 5gp per hybrid offspring and 3gp per same species offspring. With the next BC release starting on July 1st and the new hybrid being released we encourage you to apply for a position. Requests for applications should be sent to [email protected]. If you have any questions, please contact Frey #90.

TOS Updates and More Drinks

The TOS has been updated. Here's a summary of what's changed:
- E-mails clause under Privacy Policy: E-mails will be sent "Aywas Newsletters" monthly that include free item codes. These e-mails can be deactivated by going to the personal page.
- New forum rule: not bump your topic within twenty-four hours of your last bump unless it is off the first page of the forum section it is in
- New information under "Accounts" : Note that two or more players who send all of their income contents of accounts, including but not limited to free promotional items, event items, or "daily" game items, will be considered "multiple accounts." Users may not ask their friends, family, or other individuals to sign up solely to gain the wealth from the friend's account. While gifting is allowed and encouraged, remember that all accounts should be playing for their own sake, and not to make a single account rich.
- New section "Expected Behavior of Users on Aywas": Users are expected to conduct themselves in a mature fashion at all times. Excessive rudeness or hurtful, ridiculing attitude toward any player (user or staff), sensitive topic (such as religion, politics, sexuality, etc), site feature, or site amenity will not be tolerated. While everyone is allowed to convey their opinions, they must be done in a way that does not seek to insult or berate, but rather to improve or calmly discuss the topic at hand. Users utilizing the "rants" forum should consider taking a step back and allow their thoughts to settle before posting potentially angry material to ensure they are handling the topic maturely.
- New information under cross site trading: The exception is Second Life - users may not trade for Second Life virtual amenities.
- New information under Profanity and Flaming: [M]-rated words and banned words.

The slots that these pets are occupying are currently up in the air. Here are the possible replacements:
Banana Swirl, Cherry Blossom Tiger, Dawn Breeze
Ice Leopard, Nature, New Years Tiger
We do, in fact, have 4 spots open for figurines. So, pick your four favorite out of the original three and the new possibilities :)
As another notice, we are thinking about pricing these--cost permitted--around $6 for a random one, $6 for a white one, and $10 for your choice of one (no random). I haven't figured out bulk discounts yet as I don't have the final quote until we submit all our sheets. :)

Melo Figurines

So, anyone who's been on the forums (specifically Aywas Talk) will have seen that I'm playing with the idea of getting melo figurines made. Why melos? Prototype development for figurines is very expensive, so we can only have one figurine at this time if we want one, and melos have the most colors and the most popularity. :)
Anyway, the figurines would be three inches, solid vinyl with that beautiful vinyl smell. They will be packaged in a box that gives you a random melo figurine of 10 different colors, so every box will be full of excitement. *flail*
Aside from that, there will be pure white melo figurines available for you to color on with markers, paint, etc and make your own customs. We can have monthly or bi-monthly "melo custom figurine" contests if enough people are interested in coloring white figurines for prizes. :)
Here are the colors we've tentatively chosen. I say tentatively in that you can give me suggestions for replacing out a color with another color, and if enough people agree it'll be done. :)
In closing, before any of this can happen (and I hope it can, man, I want a ton of these things all over my room and house... everywhere you turn--MELO!), there needs to be sufficient interest from the userbase. So, poll time! Keep in mind that USD buyers would be first, so if you CAN use USD (or any other PayPal supported currency, lol) pick that first before GP!
The trading cards are still on the list of cool ideas, but since they require so much custom art and templating, they might be be around for a while - just for anyone wondering!

It's June 15, which means that Kaz and Shoe just turned 21! .... Or, they would, if they aged. Which they don't, so I guess they've been "turning 21" for a while... a long, long while. But it's still their birthday, so let's celebrate and feel happy for them!
In fact, they seem willing to let you poke them every hour of the day! They might even give you something, though it comes with a condition... after all, it's THEIR birthday, not yours (unless you're Hiiro, but whatever).
You have 24 chances to poke them. Let's start now!
Please note that sending the present to a user and asking/having that user send it back to you is violating the conditions of this feature - so don't do it! >:|
