Site Update

Hey all,

Stepping up for Kaiyo (#489) right now (offline life is kicking her rump right now), because it seems in the rush of everything happening we forgot the Vion Planter.

It's now stocking in the GP Shop for 350 GP, and will be taken out approximately noon tomorrow.

I also must give you the 24 hour countdown to total Mayday PSD annihilation.

Unfortunately to stock in the new customs and PSDs we need to wipe out the old records, so if you have a pet from the last batch then please, please go and grab that PSD. If you've sold or gifted it please, please check with your friend/buyer that they have the PSD before they all disappear.

Other than that, Kaiyo will be getting to her PMs as best she can over the next couple of days and is apologising profusely that she's behind.

Does the planter make a breeadable custom? I could have sworn the original post said it was unbreedable, but the item's desc mentions nothing about it being unbreedable.

Can we maybe not with the gifs? I get it's trying to be casual and cute but it's REALLY jarring seeing huge gifs on news posts and looks really unprofessional and messy.
Makes reading the post kind of annoying as well, especially without much text, it makes it look really fragmented.

Perhaps keep gifs to forums?

I completely agree with 3 Dumb Sloths ^^. Actually reading this post was almost impossible because of the gifs imo

I think keeping things to actual onsite art (items, pets) makes sense, but ouside sources for gifs seem out of place.

Given the fun, easy going nature of Aywas we find the gifs to be quite adorable and professional. Plus, several users have expressed how much they love them, and how they enjoy seeing the lighter side of staff. :)

I really don't want to start anything but you simply cannot claim they're "professional" in any way. Personally I don't find them "adorable" either, but that is a subjective term.

I wouldn't have a problem if they were AYWAS gifs, but they're not, they're random gifs pulled from google (which might I add, have never had their sources cited or credited to the person who made the gif).
Images of Aywas pets, items, NPCs etc. have never been an issue because they fit with the site, they ARE the site, and if someone made gifs of Aywas things and those were used in posts it wouldn't look even remotely out of place.

As it is, as someone who has experience with customer interaction running a freelance artist business, seeing the "lighter side" of staff is fine and good but as representatives of Aywas and Explorer Games the staff should definitely not be portraying such a lackadaisical approach to informing users of important site updates by using un-credited random gifs in news posts.
The same level of casual and easy-going tone can be achieved by using Aywas related images and gifs and still show the "lighter side" of staff.

Most people who do not find the gifs "adorable" will likely NOT say so in comments for fear they'd be yelled at, which is why I didn't bother until now, having assumed it was just a one-off thing that would be replaced by Aywas related things later and it appears I was wrong.

Can you honestly tell me you wouldn't find it jarring if your boss gave you company information via email and attached random gifs in the middle of the message?

Hmm.. Does 350 GP really make sense for the gold vion custom maker? that seems excessive. Isn't that how much the Gold Lunaris custom maker cost?

Generally speaking, due to mystery tickets and what not, Vion Seeds have been around half the cost of Lunaris custom makers. So wouldn't it make sense that the planters be around 175-250 (max) GP instead. That is still a LOT of GP.

Also, a couple gold vion mystery eggs sold for around 200 GP ... and that seemed fair to most people... the jump to 350 as such, seem drastic.. though yeah.. the 200 GP sales weren't exactly official or anything.. and official prices of things sometimes are a lot... but I just think the ends don't justify the means in this case.

Especially since many would have to (or rather want to ) commission an artist for a design on top of that (either w/ GP/USD/Design ticket, doesn't matter, all add to the total cost)... it would make a lot more sense to get a BC, GEP or GER, and an artist ticket/crystal egg ticket, than buy this custom maker. just my two cents though. take it or leave it.

On another note entirely, I personally don't mind gifs... but maybe size the gifs down a little bit..these gifs seem HUGE lmao. (and /what/ is going on with Ariel's hair?? It's all static-y looking, haha)

"Quite adorable" sure why not, but "professional"? I apologize that I have never received a professional memo from my boss with a gif of Ariel face palming on it to express that they missed something.

I'm purely speaking from my experience trying to read this news post- Firstly I myself have no idea who Kai is (I realized it's Kaiyo now but usually a full name and a user ID # is good so those who aren't up to the latest trends and nicknames understand what is going on.)

Secondly these gifs take up about 6x the space of the actual text of the news post. If someone was actually interested in a Vion Planter and skimmed the news post they would have absolutely no idea that they were in stock. Their eyes would draw to two huge gifs that have nothing to do with the Vion Planter. Same thing with the Mayday psds. The title doesn't even say anything about neither the psds nor the Vion Planter.

I second the statement of keeping gifs to forums where the staff CAN be "lighter" but keeping them from the main source of information on the site where the news and updates should be clear, concise, and not a struggle to read.
