Do you like making customs and custom designs? Make sure you're doing it legally.
Brushes/patterns from the internet CANNOT BE USED on an aywas image unless:
- it requires no credit
- it is allowed for commercial purposes
- you list EVERY BRUSH you use under the design in a "brushes/images used" section of your pet's profile, along with a link to the rules of the brush, and keep record of that on your pet forever
Google images or patterns you get off the internet CANNOT BE USED on an aywas image unless:
- it requires no credit
- it is allowed for commercial purposes
- you list EVERY IMAGE you use under the design in a "brushes/images used" section of your pet's profile, along with a link to the rules of the image, and keep record of that on your pet forever
Using images that do not belong to you and you do not have permission to use is THEFT and ILLEGAL. If you do it, we will ban you. So don't do it.
When in doubt, message a moderator with a link to your image/pattern/brush's rules and they will let you know if you can use it.
Suspicious that someone might be using an image without permission? Contact a moderator with a link to the thread.
If a moderator approaches you asking for information about your images, you are required to yield where you got the images from. If you made the image yourself, you are required to show progress layers that prove you are the original artist of the image. Be sure to keep them so you don't have any problems.
Aywas takes art theft very seriously, as we are an art community. We are cracking down on it, and there will be no hand-slapping for thieves.

Avatars are not associated with real money on the site. Customs and breedings are.

Also, when you upload a custom or a breeding image, or any derivative of an aywas image, you are immediately assigning Explorer Games with full copyright and ownership for that. You are not doing that with avatars. You need to have full rights to use an image to be able to transfer the intellectual property rights to EG.

I think the main difference is you're not paying money for the avatar.... But you are for the siggy! Dun dun dunnn (You're not paying for the image /on/ the siggy though. Or you shouldn't.)

It's more fun to make your own stuff from scratch anyway. Be real, don't steal.

I always made sure brushes / patterns I used was free to use, free for commercial use, or was ones I made myself.. I was unaware we had to have links though, I'll stop using brushes and patterns until I have links and stuff or find another way to do things (most likely the last option. Less trouble)Custom making can be very confusing.. I've run into more then one person who's gotten confused./I admit I misunderstood ONE aspect of that (and that mistake was just made in the past few days and I have utterly cleared it up on my end and fixed things including going to skitty, though that may not be good enough.)

So why does this apply only to pets and not to avatars? Is there some sort of special exemption in the copyright laws I'm not aware of? Seems to me if you disallow use of copyrighted images you need to do it for every aspect of Aywas, not just the ones you're most likely to get slapped with a lawsuit over.
