Maned Oskes

Contests

Want to win one of these awesome maned Oskes to go with your White Lion Oske?

Send a message to another user - any user, but preferably not one that's your friend - telling them something nice. Like their artwork? The posts they make? How they're friendly? Anything - just be nice, and recognize them for the good community member they are.

Include the phrase "i377dh" at the end of the message for a chance at winning one of those Oskes above!

True, I feel weird about it, but this is actually a great idea. I would love it if this became a regular thing. Even if for pets or whatever or not.

I cannot imagine someone would right a thorough and "heartfelt" message to someone and have it be empty. No one's going to waste their time typing up a lengthy message to show kindness to another and not mean it. A heart-felt message and one lazily sent is easily discernible. But regardless of the type of message sent - for people to receive to a nice PM, then be put off because they feel the only reason was because of a contest??? This is what has me upset, because there are several members trying to be genuine with their messages (but will never be seen in this way). I received one today, fully knowing about the news post, and it made my day regardless. Granted, it may not be the best way to receive nice comments, but for some shy people, they would NEVER send a PM without the reassurance of "everyone's doing it". It's a nice idea of Slash - trying to encourage us to communicate with other members. There are good intentions behind it even if some don't see it. But alas you cannot make everyone happy.

My message was to a total stranger that I hadn't ever met on the site before. It wasn't long, but it was honest and true. I complimented their extraordinary artwork with breeding examples, and though I did add the code at the end, and though it was only a few sentences, I got a reply, and we actually ended up chatting about art and designs. I've got it in my planner to hire her for a breed example whenever I get to breeding. The art really is marvelous.

So the point being, yes a code was added, and yes I didnt write a ginormous message gushing over her obviously brilliant art, but we got to know one another and I made a connection I never would have before.

Do I care if I get the pet thing? No. Not really. Well, not at all. I added the code to show my support of Slash's idea and effort to bring the Aywas community together. Quite marvelous really.

I like it because it makes you feel important when you receive a message from someone. They could choose anyone else but they chose you? How is that cold or weird?

I typed one up thinking I must me crazy for thinking it would be awkward. It felt horrible. Not at all sincere or nice, and I regret sending it.

However, that's just me. I'm fine with it going on, I'm just not keen on participating - too shy for these things.

I think slash is sporting another social experiment (lolz)
Id be interested in the results myself..and by that I mean out of the people who say they wont send a message do.

I got a message and it brightened my day. When this contest started I assumed no one would bother to message me, so it really stood out. :)

The only thing that pothers me about your first post, echo, is that it sounds like many of us are assuming half of aywas to be fakers, when many of us actually just said that WE feel fake when we send such messages. Thats a difference. It is just what we feel. You dont have to agree with this.

I completely understand that Jamew, and I didn't mean to make it sound like everyone assumed the messages would be fake (or that everyone wouldn't appreciate the messages because of the contest). I was referring to certain posts I saw earlier so I was expressing my concern with *those* posts (can't exactly quote in the news thread XD ).
